General Recording Update

Hey guys,

Thought you might like to know what is up.

Recently, Chris' whole family got sick so he was housebound on nurse duty, then Matt got jealous and decided he would get sick himself.

So both of us got a bit crushed due to limited working time.

Nonetheless, we had the Robert Wright episode in for editing and so it just came out on the main feed.

Our upcoming recording schedule looks something like this:

1. Decoding Academia episode on 'Are Republicans and Conservatives More Likely to Believe Conspiracy Theories?' (2022)

2. Intro/outro for Elgen Strait interview

3. Next tech guru (Highest polled= Thiel, Musk, Harari)

4. InfoHorse episode (featuring the interview with Gideon MK on TOGETHER trial)

5. Bitesize episode on 'Mutual Back-patting' featuring Glenn Greenwald & Alex Jones, Brett Weinstein & Maajid Nawaz, etc.

6. Decoding Academia episode on 'Explaining costly religious practices: credibility enhancing displays and signaling theories' (2022) possibly featuring Liam Bright.

We also have some outstanding interview we would like to arrange, including with Becca Lewis (disinformation researcher), Manvir Singh (cognitive anthropologist focusing on shamanism), Julia Ebner (extremism researcher), and David Fuller (on Rebel Wisdom, JBP, and the Sensemakers).

Matt is also very keen to do a sensemaking episode and we have this 'Making sense of Sensemaking' video featuring three top ttop-tierier sensemakers... so that might jump the queue and join the tech season. We will see.

After those and some more tech folk, we are going to move into a miniseason of left-wing gurus. And we are thinking to start of with DiAngelo!

So lots planned but let's see how things go! The gurus rarely stay quiet these days and they might mess up our plans.

Cheers!

Cheers Max!

I wanted to point out interesting Musk content if you haven't already decoded him. In this episode some guys that are probably not the brightest of the bunch a fawning over Musk. The episode feels like a Sermon in the mount where they are trying to find meaning in every word Musk is saying, it is clear that they probably think Musk can do everything and see him as a guru. I think it is not often that you see this type of content with the other secular gurus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXS_gkWAIs0

Well, take care anyway! Hope everyone is well.

Robert Andrews

No covid just other generic illnesses.

Christopher Kavanagh

Ah! Covid came to town? I finally got it myself on Monday and have been isolating since. Hope everyone is recovering well. Take care!

Robert Andrews

Yes and yes!

Christopher Kavanagh

DiAngelo is a great pick for guru. She's way more into that side than Kendi, and basically does guruing as her job. Two comment I'd like to offer in response to this list: 1. Please don't do Musk! He's just so overdone, and there is less out there about Thiel and Harari (who are more interesting anyway). 2. Dan @ Knowledge Fight would be a great resource for the Glenn Greenwald/Alex Jones back massagery. Either way, this season looks great. Cheers and hope y'all feel better soon.

Fake Chuck

Is daniel schmachtenberger on the radar generally? And/or Tristan Harris?

Paul Sees

That RW sensemaking episode is a classic - (when fully recovered, as you'll need to be) please have a go at decoding it. It's particularly interesting as it includes Schmachtenberger, who does generally try to make sense of things from a grounded understanding of complexity theory, and the other 2 who are more focused on profound sounding obfuscation.

(Note: GE corporate slogan was.’Better Living Through Chemistry’ which I heartily endorsed.

Tom McCool

Well, more than 2 hours of watching/listening to a couch session of college kids without my GE is unpossible. That’s nonsense making on a higher plane.
