Laura S. Arseid SFW - 105 images

This was a commission from Soulblight. I hope I did her justice! This was one of my most challenging sets yet, as her LoRA options were extremely limited.

Purists would say that you have to begin at the beginning, with the Trails in the Sky series. However, I'd say that while skipping "Sky" and the Crossbell arc (Trails to Zero, Trails to Azure) would be missing out on a good story, I don't see a problem starting with Trails of Cold Steel. If you like ToCS, you can always go back and play Sky and Zero/Azure. It's actually the latter two that have more story elements that tie in with ToCS, but I had to play these two out-of-order because they had not been (properly) localized for the west at the time I started playing ToCS. Combat sequences are turn-based, and the complexities are introduced slowly over time as you gain more resources and unlock various things using those resources. That said, the game is not really combat-focused; it's more of a long story with occasional "dungeon" style combat encounters and random combat encounters while you're travelling on foot from place to place. The best aspect of the entire series is the storytelling, character development, and world-building depth. These games are definitely a "slow burn" in terms of how the plot ramps up; the story in ToCS starts out as just another highschool slice-of-life (with a few oddities, like being a member of the special Class VII) but it ramps up slowly over time, as you travel around the Erebonian Empire and become aware of the various social and political issues.

Oh nice! That's a happy accident then. Man, the more you talk about this series the more I'm considering trying it out. Do you need to play every game? I found the combat a bit hard to get into initially. I'm wondering if it gets better the more you play.

The alternate color versions are actually not all that inappropriate. In the Trails of Cold Steel mythos, Thors Military Academy students wore uniforms colored based on their social status - white for nobility, and green for commoners. The red uniform Laura wears normally marks her as a member of Class VII, an experimental project sponsored by the imperial prince that has members from both the nobility and commoners.

An excellent job, esp. considering the poor resources you had to work with. Thanks, bud!
