Being polite and honorifics don't just happen in the kpop industry, it is Korean culture. Age heirarchy is important. There are different ways to address people depending if they are older or younger than you and if you are familiar with each other or not. You would never just call someone you just met (let alone a senior in your industry) by their first name, so by these older and more senior groups saying "we are colleagues" or figuring out each others ages, they are figuring out how to address each other and permitting it in a less formal way. That's why in the previous episode with Bobby, Sunwoo and Hwiyoung they were so happy Bobby ganve them permission very quickly. It is also why with the Mayfly Dance team, the younger members found it difficult to dop honorofics completely when Peniel said they should. I hope that made sense!
