The talk Lada has with Nu doesn’t have the outcome she would have thought. Wisanu recognizes she doesn’t love him, but she wants to marry her anyway, regardless of this. Does he ever think for himself? The talk with her mother, however, goes exactly like I expected. She is adamant that only herself knows what good for Lada – Wisanu - and treats her like a small child. Lada does not get any say in this; does Rusammee really expect Lada to just roll over and relent? Does she know her headstrong daughter at all? I did expect Earn to get mad again, if fact, I fully expected to for their relationship to get in trouble again; after all, that’s what the show conditioned us to expect. Yet Earn understands wordlessly what Lada is going through with her mother and is willing to support and console her. Progress! The next day Dr. Nu tries to make up with Lada, but now he is running into the brick wall that Earn faced it the first half of the show. Tan talks to his beau, and tells him not to think about his or Lada’s families, but about his own feelings. Good advice – so far Wisanu doesn’t seem like a real person, but rather a plot device. But then, Rusammee got him into line again – even though he realized by then that Lada loves someone else. Lada get sent to a seminar with Nu, with the clear hope that he will make a move there and get Lada to be heterosexual. What is the mother thinking?!?! But she underestimates her daughter , she has made her plans without believing that Lada could plan something herself. So Lada stays at the hospital – making up an urgent case at the hospital – it’s work! – and sends Tan to the seminar, who get’s to meet Dr. Nu, who clearly in smitten at this point. Nwo if time for the olny bit of comedy of the episodes – with a move by Lada that clearly doesn’t land with Earn; we learn that Tan taught her this. I hope he’s more smooth with Dr Nu. 😊 And he is, because Dr. Nu kind of confesses feelings for Tan, or is at least willing to explore them. But he falls asleep before anything can happen. Back at home, Earn brings up the “breakup blackmail/intrigue” but only vaguely and without going though with telling Lada what happened. I think this was more a reminder/foreshadowing for the audience. Then Lada is much smoother on the bed with Earn as they discuss potential vacation plans. But these will go an the backburner soon, because we now witness the central scene of the episode. As Rusammee scolds her husband for not being as homophobic as she is 🤦, they talk about what she did to Lada and Earn two years ago – just as Lada wanted to enter. There she learns the whole story of why Earn broke up with her in the first place – and is devastated. Furthermore, we get to know that her Mom visited her after the breakup, and even though she could clearly see this breakup nearly destroyed her daughter, she still fed the flames and in so small part caused Lada’s bitterness towards Earn we saw earlier on. Lada reacts as I would have expected. She severs all ties with her mother, asking “This is the love you have you me? Do you even see me as your daughter?” and moves in with Earn. Her mother even dares to slap Lada – I couldn’t see how they could redeem Rusammee at this point. We get a quick, but emotional scene in which Lada and Earn forgive each other; then Lada also resigns from the hospital she was destined to inherit. Lada’s father talks a good talk, but even though he’s the most outspoken proponent of Earn and Lada, he’s very ineffective doesn’t really do anything to support Lada. And then Lada’s mom tries to cope with the fallout , can’t – and collapses. At this point, I had extreme Gap flashbacks. One episode left, so much ground to cover…
