Update 11-28-24

Alright, let's get down and dirty.

AO 5 is done. We didn't finish the war arc, that's okay. I'll just keep working through the war arc and then a Zenovia arc to follow to close out the series.

RD 3 is on deck. I have a really good idea of what I want to do and 2 months to do it. RD 3 will come out on ebook on Feb 9th.

Going into next year I'm only planning on 8 books. RD books have more chapters and I'm going to use that to buffer my time a little so RD books will 'take' two months. Really the goal is just to give each book an extra week or so.

This year I took more breaks than I'd like. There are just a number of other things going on and as you get deeper and longer into this business it's apparent that the number of decision points in your day multiply.

So, in order to keep up secondary activities like kickstarters and webcomics I'm just going to feather the break on ebook releases.

That and I've been flirting with Burnout for a good bit of this year. I'm a very deadline motivated person so I used those to try and keep myself productive, but I think the best thing for me to take a slower next year and pull firmly away from burnout and give myself time to have fun with side projects.

Speaking of side projects. The Kickstarter books have arrived (most of them) yesterday. I was traveling and Chris was around to make sure they all got put away. Big thanks to Chris.

Next week we'll tackle what exactly we are doing with those and start getting them shipped out. There have continued to be delays with Jack for the Audio portion. We'll see when I can get that done or if I just need to do a partial release for the digital assets. Everything else has been done for a while.

Audio has AO 4 complete and uploaded to ACX. I'm supposed to get RD 2 files here after the holiday for beta listening and then release planning for Jan 9th.

Webcomic... I sold my partial comic and rights to Aethon and it's been approved by Webtoons. Both parties are sort of sinking their teeth into the comic and my understanding is that production is still paused.

The biggest problem with webcomics, is that you can't really indie it. To get any appreciable volume of readers you HAVE to sell to Webtoons or Tapas(Tapas isn't viable imo for non romance).

Selling to Webtoons is a fair amount of work and rather than take it on after the Voyce.me fiasco, Aethon has a direct pipeline that's preapproved. So, I shoved DD's webcomic in there after a pretty nice contract from Aethon.

I hate not being able to do it completely indie, but at least for this one I'm going to not take on more work. As for how it do it next time? That's Future Bruce's problem.

But life is good. The writing business is going fantastically. All three series are selling well, things are stable and I'm happy.
