Patreon Payment Update
Added 2024-08-14 06:00:05 +0000 UTCAlright, going to make this brief, but I need to address it before you start seeing information from other sources.
Apple wants 30% from Patreon for sign ups starting on an Apple Phone/Ipad. Patreon will start complying on Oct 31st for all subscription sign ups starting on an Apple Phone/Ipad. Probably smart watches too, those greedy grubbers.
If you have an existing subscription, regardless of how you signed up, nothing will change. If you resub on an android device or a pc, nothing will change.
However, to cover the 30%, Patreon will start charging you 45% more if you initiate your subscription on an apple app. Math is fun right?
If you signup elsewhere, you still have full access using an app. You just can't start a sub on the app without paying extra.
Hopefully that clear, lets get back to Bran fucking things up. If you have any question, please ask below.

2024-08-17 23:11:38 +0000 UTCThis isn’t going to hurt Apple, though, because they aren’t collecting money from this app yet, anyway. All this hurts is the content creators and the consumers, at a time when we’re getting smacked with extra costs everywhere. If they really wanted to hurt Apple, simply pull the app.

2024-08-14 19:06:32 +0000 UTCClassic 'salami' approach - no-one notices when we shave off a bit more profit for ourselves as the money goes past ... used to be subtle 1 or 2% but banks seem to have started to set the trend at min 5% or so, and now you have audacious 15% (unless its 'social engineering', eg Patreon don't want to deal with this Apple BS either so let's try to make it *really* dead in the water!)

2024-08-14 19:02:03 +0000 UTCApple tax will only apply to the Patreon APP downloaded from the APP STORE for New Subscriptions only. If you subscribe online using Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc. the Apple tax will not apply. If you are a current subscriber and do not cancel the subscription, the Apple Tax will not apply.

2024-08-14 11:58:09 +0000 UTCEveryone is bashing Apple (and rightly so), but we’re just gonna ignore the fact that the app that Patreon REQUIRED we use, and now pay more than browser-based for + an additional 15% (for “reasons”), is…crap?

2024-08-14 11:54:02 +0000 UTCThis is why Apple trash should be banned. Apple stores are like cults.

2024-08-14 06:09:47 +0000 UTCApple board room: Exec 1: We can't go after singers anymore, Taylor Will kick our asses. Exec 2: So who else can we abuse for money? Exec 1: I don't know, we've already trolled the users by ditching ipods, you want music on the go, buy a phone... who else can we squeeze. Exec 3: I've got it, guys I've got it. Let's go after other artists who *arent* singers, there's this thing called patron. Queen T won't touch us for that....
