I hope you enjoyed DJ 8. Dungeon 103 will start on Wednesday.
I’m not very far into the new book, but I’m already torn how long I want to make this series. I feel like we should move through the 2nd semester with this book, but I also want to spend some time at the Grandparents, because, well, they are fun.
Things are going well over here, continuing to write away. My wrist pain has settled, and I’m back to writing big chunks on weekdays.
I have been doing some sketching lately, unfortunately due to a file error you guys didn’t see my Evelyn, but I’m thinking about who to do for Dungeon. If there’s a non-cover character you want to see me do a sketch of, please drop a comment or like someone else’s. I’ll probably do the top 1-2.
Several people have messaged me asking about the pressure that Amazon is putting on ebooks containing sexual content. My current POV is hope for the best, plan for the worst. For now, everything is speculation and we just have to wait to see what comes of it. If a hammer does truly drop, then I have backup plans. Until then, just continue to enjoy my writing.
Lastly, let me know what you are looking forward in Dungeon Diving 103. I have some plans for the Grandparent’s place and for the return for Haylon. But ultimately, the dungeon itself is a wide open place for our characters to explore and I’m writing for all of you.

I would love for this to be a more extended series. The Crimson plot is easily my favorite part, and it coming to a satisfying conclusion with appropriate build-up is going to be so important to me personally. The disparity between Ken and Crimson’s current power levels with the current pacing makes me a little worried about some deus ex machina moments if the series ends up being on the shorter side. The longer they are apart, the more epic it will be when they finally come together. I’m talking about some serious blue balls here! Ken truly earning his right to stand side by side with Crimson will add so much to it, in my opinion. I hope that didn’t come off the wrong way. I’ve really enjoyed your work. Thank you for all you have and will write!

2023-06-17 09:07:12 +0000 UTCKen is, IMHO, the best MC you've created yet, and the girls all really alive to me and well fleshed-out, even after just 2 books. All your stuff is fantastic, but this series really hits lightning in a bottle. Wouldn't be surprised if it outsold everything eventually - it's just so compelling and fun to read.

2023-06-15 01:01:30 +0000 UTCFor the sake of pacing, it'd be nice if each book covered a year of school, and then after that it would dig into world politics and much deeper dungeon diving. I'm not a fan of training montages. But if there's something else goin on like what happened towards the end of 102 (slaughtering a guild) then by all means keep the pace of one book per semester. But getting Crimson in the harem is pretty important ;)

2023-06-14 23:45:56 +0000 UTCTo be clear, the book is 100% in your hands. If you make it a short series, cool. If you make it 100 books long and take us to hundreds of locations, that would be amazing as well. Me personally, I'd love to see if the Naga are fighting against a sexy lamia race with humanoid torsos and snake tails. 😀 They could be an oppressed sub-species on their world.

2023-06-14 08:02:51 +0000 UTCSo there is no new book coming to amazon in June? I want to preface that that is perfectly fine I just wanted to know whether or not to keep checking amazon daily for the DJ 8 lol.

2023-06-13 18:06:38 +0000 UTCJust so looking forward to Dungeon 103. I hope this series goes for a good long while as long as the harem is kept fairly tight. I think the world itself sets up a long runway.

2023-06-13 05:39:05 +0000 UTCI don't comment much, but I'd like to say that this is my favorite of your series thus far. I like the smaller cast, with more time spent on characterization for them. I think there's a lot you can do with the school setting, especially given that as students get further in their education they spend more time in the dungeon. I'd say the pacing you have so far is good, and you shouldn't be afraid to use time-skips to keep the same pacing even as the time-scale changes. I also wouldn't be opposed to having the series end with his graduation, then have a sequel series set afterwards. The series has a lot of potential and, in my opinion, figuring out how to cleanly break away from the school setting when the time comes will be crucial to meeting that potential.

2023-06-13 05:37:57 +0000 UTCi think only Terandi comes to mind when it comes to women who dont really have an image id like to see her.

2023-06-13 01:56:16 +0000 UTCI think Crimson would definitely ensure that at least Ken if not her whole class experiences fighting after enraging the dungeon, maybe even on a floor boss. Could time skip weeks and months during the course of the book between events, and have a return to the grandparents be the end to celebrate finishing their first year at Haylon. I'd like this series to be long and continue for years after Haylon. I'd really like a series that continues even after children are born and not end just as they come into the picture as that really shortens the potential length of the series.

2023-06-13 01:50:35 +0000 UTCThere could even be Extra Credit books for side characters such as Harley, and how she finally assembles her dungeon group.

2023-06-12 22:54:03 +0000 UTCWould a Naga joining the harem count as a diplomatic solution?
Bob Bryan
2023-06-12 20:16:20 +0000 UTCWell, since you are using a university style naming scheme for the Dungeon series of books I believe the natural stopping point for this group of books would be Ken graduating Haylon. Heck I can see the last battle of the 100 series being Ken diffusing Crimson's berserker fugue state. Thus removing all of Crimson's doubt about her future with Ken. The grandparents are fun, and I always enjoy the sidetracks that you include in your books. Then you can pause, and eventually start a Dungeon 200 series where you have Ken grapple with the higher level threats like building a raid team/dungeon delving corp. Having Crimson joining his dungeon team officially. Rescuing the elven empress from the bureaucrats/defeating the empress' nefarious plans. I can see the 200 series ending with Ken's team taking on the raid boss at the end of the Naga's dungeon/ Ken finding a diplomatic solution to the Nagas.

2023-06-12 16:58:00 +0000 UTCPersonally I hope this series is very long, kind of like a western cultivation series, so as long as things keep happening in the books then more books are great. I do hope this series goes on after they graduate though.
Bob Bryan
2023-06-12 16:45:11 +0000 UTCYou did amazing setting up the plot, characters, and other forces that can appear, now you just need to get our characters more levels. 2 Books in and still level 5 is about the only issue with this series.

2023-06-12 16:26:26 +0000 UTCHonestly, the narrative problem presented here is one that I think is super common to any academy/school-based story. If the world is interesting, you want the characters out in it, which makes the framing device of the school fall away really quickly as it becomes limiting. If the main plot threads you want to explore continually take them out of the school setting, then what is the point of keeping them as students in the narrative? This issue especially compounds when pacing would slow to a crawl if we needed to get through three/four school years that take 2-3 books each before we can even start the bigger plot. I think the answer boils down a lot to what you want to focus more on: the every slice of life plots that come with them being students, or the mysteries of the dungeons and other multidimensional folks and threats within? I don't think there's necessarily a wrong answer, and for what it's worth, my $0.02 on the matter is that this series leans a lot more 'anime' than your other works, and as such we have the time honored tradition of the time-skip that could help. We've got two (or three) books here to establish the main cast, their relationships, etc., so if the next book Gurren Laganns the plot forward to them after school to be prepared to deal whatever the end-of-book-3-status-quo is, I wouldn't be against it.

2023-06-12 16:11:07 +0000 UTCAwesome every bit helps. I follow a lot of writers and I worry about the stress the put on their bodies with deadlines. Fingers crossed the tech only gets better.

2023-06-12 15:59:33 +0000 UTCDo want to see a good chunk of the training with the grandparents, which would highlight a POV from all the girls from Ken’s grp, and am enjoying the current pace of the series, even though at this rate it will be book 9 before he goes to visit the elves. Which is awesome if you have that much and more planned for this series. I love this series so far and want it to go as far as it can. As far as the art is concerned, more of Crimson would be nice especially if it could be presented in the form of the magazines that keep popping up in the series 😁

2023-06-12 15:29:39 +0000 UTCDo the timeskip during Ken's teams training with his grandparents. It's a classic and it lets you have the running gag where referring to their training making the characters nervous/depressed. I feel most people would want to see a Nekorian join Kens team/Raid group. Personally if we're having fun with anime tropes I think we need a school festival with a maid cafe. Rival schools could show up setting up the competition between Academies later on in the series.

2023-06-12 15:11:45 +0000 UTCNekorians - Cat people. All cat races in my books will have some reference to Neko. I agree I feel like there is a lot of adventure gated behind level 20 right now. I'll keep going though.

2023-06-12 14:32:28 +0000 UTCUsually about 10-20% of my books are dictated. I don't prefer it as a writing method, but recent improvements in AI have made it a lot better than it was even a few years ago.

2023-06-12 14:28:03 +0000 UTCYeah, glad to see I am not the only one that prefers smaller groups. If you haven't read Legendary Rule -- its somewhat of a prequel and also has a smaller team.

2023-06-12 13:51:04 +0000 UTCI have a feeling that there is something planned for Harley though. I could totally see her and Ken tag-teaming an Empress... LOL.

2023-06-12 13:48:15 +0000 UTCJust joined your patron today. I’ve read/listened to most of your series and I just wana say this one is by far my favorite, and I joined patreon because of it. I just love the world building and the whole dungeon/ability’s aspect. I hope this becomes your longest series. Glad to hear your wrist are doing better I wonder if some sort of dictation software would help keep them in good shape. Speech to text then go back and fix it up? I love the characters and I just wana see the chemistry continue and grow.

2023-06-12 12:56:10 +0000 UTCIts hard to say what we want because honestly, you kinda shot yourself in the foot with the first two books. SO much content you have put before us: his current harem, budding relationship with Crimson, Nagga, cat people (forgot their name), Dwarfs, Nadine and all the elf court drama plus Ken's skills 20 and up (which ties into helping Crimson, which will be needed for their romance to move forward). With the first 2 books covering just 1 of 8 semesters, not to mention what happens during the summer and winter breaks (training with the grandparents!!), you have a LOT to cover. This honestly feels like a 10+ book series unless you do a lot of jumping time with just highlights in the chapters. One way to explain this though is Crimson. Even the Kaiming will be wary of crossing her. I would have her go out and make an example of several high level Kaiming, with her and the Nagato clan putting pressure on them they will not bother Ken until after Graduation. But even with long jumps in time (which after he solidifies his relationship with Charlotte, the rest would become too routine to cover) you still have a lot of ground to cover. Regardless, your fans will eat it all up regardless of how you present it.

2023-06-12 12:18:11 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure the most recent pressure is due to the laws passed in Arkansas and other states to "protect minors" as even local book stores and library's are effected by them. I have a feeling the new " check box if sex" thing is due to this. so in the states they have to worry about being sued, anything with sex in it won't show up to anyone who is not verified as as 18+. Unfortunately unless the lawsuit against this states get them struck down, even if authors their own store front would have they would have to worry about verification of 18+ from those states or block access from the states like pornhub did, or have to worried about being sued by those states.

2023-06-12 11:42:06 +0000 UTCDungeon has started out really strong, I hesitate to give too much feedback as I find it always best to just write as you want. My favourite parts are that the harem is smaller and more developed than the other books so far, so on that note I'm looking forward to more development of Charlotte as she is the weakest in terms of characterization at the moment imo. More bunbun. Running gag of crimson and the magazines as well as winning the bet. Cute outfits for bunbun. Going deeper in the dungeon. Devastating bunbun attacks. More demon rituals with des. And some bunbun - bonus points if wearing cute hat.

2023-06-12 11:25:53 +0000 UTCThe grandparents are great, but so is the college. Though I admit, a little unsure what the syllabus is since it seems to be mostly practical studies. And how long is the course? 3 years? More? Less? Because I’m thinking 4 to 5 books per year and the whole course plus a year afterwards is about the right length :oD (you did ask)

2023-06-12 11:11:41 +0000 UTCI'm hoping that this series is at least as long as Dragon. There is great material here and a great world to work with. With restoring his clan to prominence, school years. How his relationship with crimson comes along, exploring the dungeon and getting to the deeper levels, what his party will look like when that happens. Not to mention all the other worlds, elf, neko, and lamia. Then the potential war with the lamia, and drama with the elf emperor. Looking forward to him exploring the new dungeon levels, seeing what his reputation now is like at the school, learning his new abilities, and how his party dynamic relationships turn out. Since there are hints that the bard his considering dipping from the party in the deeper levels with the potential of crimson taking her place. The bard needs to start looking and branching out to look for party members if she wants to do that; would be cool to see a POV of her starting that. As picture of none cover characters the Judicator/executioner would be cool. See the difference and maturity between the elves, crimson would be nice too. Sorry for the long post, one of the better lit harem books I'm reading and I'm excited to read it.

2023-06-12 11:08:12 +0000 UTCTruth be told , after he gets Charlotte on/in bed you could skip to graduation from the college. Just he on some high lights and then get to the heart of the matter and get him to the elf world. Lol. Then we can proceed on to getting stronger by defeating the daemon. And then on to the nigia (think I spelled that wrong). But that is my idea?
