Sometimes it feels good to have an opportunity to return to some of the older segments in this story, rather than starting new ones. King Martin III of Naples Passes away and, as Planned, is Succeded by his Niece, Queen Isabella II. Of the Italian States, only Venice is not a Member of the Holy Roman Empire. 1671 In the Queendom of Vinland, Fed up with Persecution, Vinland’s Baptist Population leaves. The Main Group Heads South, Hoping to Settle on a Caribbean Island. A smaller Group Heads Westwards, Hoping to Reach the Pacific Ocean. 1673 In the Queendom of Vinland, the Main Group of Vinlandic Baptists Reaches the Alkafuglaeyjar Island [OTL Falkland Islands] in the South Atlantic. 1682 In the Russian Empire, Pyotr Alekséyevich Inherits the Throne of Russia at the Age of 10. Ivan V and Peter I are Named as Co ~ Rulers of Russia as the Result of a Compromise. 1685 22nd October In the Kingdom of France, King Charles VII of France Revokes Toleration for French Protestants, Orderinng the Destruction of Protestant Churches and the Closure of Protestant Schools as well as Prompting Fears of a Catholic Counter ~ Reformation. 1689 In the Russian Empire, the Russian Empire and the Empire of The Great Qing Sign the Treaty of Nerchinsk to Settle the Border between the Two Empires. 1712 24th January In the Electorate of Brandenburg, a Son, Frederick, is Born in the Berlin Palace to Frederick William I of Brandenburg and his Wife, Sophia Dorothea of Hannover. The Birth is Welcomed by his Grandfather, Prince ~ Elector Frederick III, as his Two Previous Grandchildren had both Died in Infancy. 1730 6th November In the Electorate of Brandenburg, Frederick, Electoral Prince of Brandenburg, looks through the Bars of his Cell Windows as Soldiers Lead his Companion, Hans Hermann von Katte, to the Mound of Sand. Katte is more than his Friend: he’s the 18 ~ Year ~ old Frederick’s Confidant, his Protector, and, some say, his Lover, and he had tried to Save Frederick from his Father, the Prince ~ Elector of Brandenburg, and Katte will Pay. “Please Forgive me, Dear Katte,” Frederick Yells in French, the Language they both Prefer, “in God’s Name, Forgive me!” “There’s nothing to Forgive.” Katte Answers, in the same Language, “I Die for you with Joy in my Heart.” The Headsman Steps Forward, Revealling his Axe. Frederick doesn’t want to Watch, but Two Soldiers, Acting on his Father’s Orders, Grab hold of him and Press his Face to the Bars. He Screams, he Fights, the Axe Raises over Katte’s Bare Neck, and then, Mercifully, the Boy who will become Brandenburg’s Greatest Ruler Faints before he sees it fall. 1740 21st November In the Kingdoms of Austria ~ Bohemia, Immediately upon Ascending the Throne as Archduchess of Austria, Maria Theresa begins Pushing for her Husband, Francis’s, Election as Holy Roman Emperor, a Position she cannot Inherit due to her Sex. Francis does not Possess enough or Rank within the Holy Roman Empire to make him Eligible for the Imperial Throne, or to Vote in Imperial Elections as the Elector of Bohemia, Maria Theresa makes Francis the Co ~ Ruler of the Austrian and Bohemian Lands. It takes a Year for the Diet of Hungary to Accept Francis as Co ~ Ruler, since they Assert that the Sovereignty of Hungary cannot be Shared. Despite her Love of him and his Position as Co ~ Ruler, Maria Theresa never Allows her Husband to Decide on Matters of State, and she Frequently Dismisses him from Council Meetings whenever they Disagree. 16th December In the Kingdoms of Austria ~ Bohemia, within 6 Weeks ~ Lightning Speed by 18th Century Standards ~ Frederick has Mobilised an and Crossed over the Border into Silesia without a Formal Declaration of War, as is Worried that, if he leaves it too long, Electoral Saxony will Invade Silesia First, Blocking Brandenburger Expansion South. It is all so Easy at …so much so that Frederick cannot Imagine that he is Setting into Motion a Chain of Events that will bring Bloodshed not just to Central Europe, but to Places as far away as Senegal, Brazil, India, and the Philippines. The Second Great Global War has begun. 1741 9th October In the Electorate of Brandenburg, Worrying that Francoiberia and Bavaria will become the Dominant Powers in Germany through the Destruction of the Habsburgs, and will Overwhelm Brandenburg as well, and Knowing that his Army cannot Remain Effective Indefinitely, and with British Urging and Mediation, Frederick’s Diplomats Contact their Austrian Counterparts and Cut a Deal. They Sign a Secret Truce so that both Belligerents can Recover Strength while their Troops still Pretend to be at War, and Austria will, Eventually, Cede the whole of Silesia to Brandenburg in Return for a Final Peace Treaty to be Negotiated before the End of the Year.

2023-02-27 18:50:19 +0000 UTCI really liked the video. Will there be a digression on homosexuality and European nobility? I would think about Philippe I, Duke of Orléans or Ludwig II of Bavaria. But there are also others, where their homosexuality was an open secret.
