Hello, You Amazing Patreon Members!

Our next theme is a GREAT ONE!

Literally, we're looking for "THE GREAT" of history!

Like Alfred the Great, Frederick the Great, or Alexander the Great, but it could also be a person foundational to their country like Queen Elizabeth or Ben Franklin, or simply essential to their field like Madame Curie. We're talking about greatness in general, here, not specifically royal power—an eminent scientist would work just as well as a king or queen!

You can enter YOUR suggestions for the topic HERE in this form.

For the record -- this is what I ended up submitting

Why don't you do Ukraine? You could help them!

I put one in for Weimar Germany. Most people just learn "lol hyper inflation then the nazis took over" in school. But it was one of the most progressive societies in Europe, having one of the world's first trans science research clinics, the Hirschfeld clinic, and it's founder, Magnus Hirschfeld. It was safe to be LGBTQ+ for a while there, and most of that information was burned by the Nazis. With LGB(especially T)Q+ being targeted in American culture in backlash to gay marriage being legalized (for now at least) I think this series is important at this point in time.

If this is permitted -- I may suggest Gaozu of Han, how he became King of Han and prevailed in the Chu-Han Contention to found the Han Dynasty.

Another question -- what about a topic about a leaders "Rise to Greatness" (for example, focusing on the low-born founder of a dynasty, and how they became monarch)? Would this be considered on topic?

Brian Rose

We already saw much of Hunyadi's military battles in the Vlad series so I don't know what else to see from him.

Chief example in mind -- Frederick the Great and Maria Theresa of Austria.

Could you do a series on TWO Greats, provided: (1) they reigned at the same time, and (2) interacted (eg a rivalry) to such an extent that they practically defined each other's legacies?

Brian Rose

Depending on whether it counts as on topic, EC could do a series looking at both him and Maria Theresa.

Brian Rose

I would like Fredrick The Great. He have Prussia the strength to become a major player in Europe. Giving rise to the position of Prussia by the time is Bismarck. Essentially leading to the Great War.
