Vote on an Extra History Topic!
Added 2015-06-29 06:51:51 +0000 UTCWe've got some pretty cool topics to pick from this month, and we'd love to know which one you're most interested in! This series will air in the fall of 2015.
Vote here: http://freeonlinesurveys.com/p/DbNcb7Qs?qid=689879
Deadline: July 1 before midnight PDT
Current Series Order: Justinian and Theodora --> First Crusade --> Admiral Yi --> Your Vote!
Quick note about Haile Selassie: Our usual cut-off for Extra History is the 1920's, but we are thinking of testing the waters for more recent history here or with another series.

Hence why I didn't - Although 'woo I love these topics' applies, and I think applies most months - I have a definite preference towards Ethiopia and John Snow's anti-pump agenda, so the use of approval voting actually made it really easy to know what to vote for this month. ...Though I can't help wonder what percentage of the Broad Street Pump votes are coming from "Wait. There was a real historic figure called John Snow?" (In the same way I doubt it was coincidence that Mashable decided to get the UK News anchor Jon Snow to do the UK Election Explained in Game of Thrones terms video. I was slightly surprised by the Mudkip gag in that, mind - I didn't realize that a US site would have been aware of the Vote Mudkip parody poster.)

2015-06-29 23:33:32 +0000 UTCYou can vote for both, if you like! We run approvals voting, which means you vote for all the topics you'd like to see and ignore the ones you're less interested in. On the whole, whichever topic has the most people interested in it overall will win!

2015-06-29 22:08:54 +0000 UTCYou can actually vote for both, if you like! You can actually vote for all four, although at that point your votes kind of cancel each other out so you're basically just saying "WOOOOO I love these topics." ...which may be exactly how I feel this month.

2015-06-29 21:52:04 +0000 UTCI voted Ethiopia because while I'm ignorant about all the subjects, I feel like I'm most ignorant about anything to do with the African continent. The only reason I even recognized Haile Selassie is because of Civ! But all of the topics were interesting... (my second choice would be the road to Rome)

2015-06-29 17:25:05 +0000 UTCSo, I voted for Ethopia over Industrial England as a close second. Nice to see they are currently 1-2 in the voting..

2015-06-29 15:18:49 +0000 UTCGeneric error when I tried to answer with the comment, no such error without it. Suspect it was a poorly reported excess field length problem. (I'd still like some sort of preferential system, incidentally, but I understand that's trickier to report results mid poll. Approval isn't the worst method of voting for this sort of thing, certainly)

2015-06-29 12:58:14 +0000 UTCSure, I've re-added them! Also, what happened with the comment field? I've had several people's comments come through, so it ought to be working.

2015-06-29 12:51:39 +0000 UTCSince the comment field didn't work for me... Could we have the dates and periods back, please? The titles are sometimes meaningless without searching for, and even a search sometimes leaves one not entirely sure (I /think/ the Broad Street Pump is on the 1854 Chlorea outbreak in the Soho region of London, particularly with the reference to John Snow, but I'm not entirely certain)

2015-06-29 12:40:54 +0000 UTCWell I am useless, I want all the topics this time.

2015-06-29 12:33:26 +0000 UTCThis is a repost: there was a weird error with the original link that was causing it report very, very skewed voting numbers. The back-end analytics for me was accurate, but I know a lot of you enjoy keeping tabs on how the votes are turning out, so I figured it would be best to just remake the poll and post a new link!
