Vote: Upcoming EH Topic!
Added 2014-10-14 23:01:04 +0000 UTCWe're planning ahead, folks! We want to get a head-start on writing the series AFTER Sengoku Jidai, so we're taking a vote on the, er, next-NEXT topic! This series will probably begin on January 16. Vote Now! http://bit.ly/ZYuyH5 Voting closes at midnight (PST) on October 21.

We'll often pick one part of a larger period to focus on. Our mini-series are meant to be short pieces that give people enough information to make them interested in a topic and motivate them to do more research on their own. We never expect to be the be-all-end-all resource on any given topic, nor that we can cover the full history of any complicated subject in only four episodes. But we hope to be a great touching-off point!

2014-10-19 02:36:07 +0000 UTCVoted for the South Sea Company, partially because I'm curious why James cited that as the first bubble market, rather than Tulipmania...

2014-10-17 03:56:27 +0000 UTCThough I voted for the Run Up to the US Civil War, I now feel I have to clarify: you guys know that you can't do the entire 1848-1860 period justice in just 4-6 episodes, right? You'd either have to do a longer series (something like 10 episodes at least), or focus on particular period (like the secession crisis).

2014-10-17 03:39:45 +0000 UTCI voted for South Sea Company seeing as that is something I know very little about. Second choice would be the Julius Caesar one because I think his life story is kind of awesome, but all of the choices seems fine.

2014-10-15 16:12:51 +0000 UTCIt's probably like the Vietnam War in America. It's not something people like to talk about, which only assures that something similar will happen again.

2014-10-15 13:45:06 +0000 UTCI've never heard of the South Sea Company, so I suppose it's time I learned more. I voted for the run up to the civil war, though. There are some disturbing parallels between the politics then and now, although no one has been beaten to a pulp in Congress during our current disagreements.

2014-10-15 13:42:04 +0000 UTCA lot of interesting options. I'll be happy regardless of which one wins.

2014-10-15 03:46:22 +0000 UTCAll 4 options sound awesome, as a heads up if you ever want to do an arc on ancient Assyria or Babylonia I can hook you up with a good history professor.

2014-10-15 01:48:50 +0000 UTCI know the least about the South Sea Company... But I REALLY want to see you guys take on the Inquisition!
