Strange Mushrooms

It's very tricky to render the difference between cast light and light coming from within a body. I've seen some really good art of internal glow, but I haven't worked out the knack yet. Perhaps I will try to find some photo references to study. If you know of any, pls share

I like this composition but if you changed it so that there wasn’t a mushroom right there casting light on her front it would be more clear that there was an internal light source.

2025-01-21 04:05:37 +0000 UTCyeah the optics are slightly complicated, white light shon thru flesh scatters to red and orange, but cyan wouldn't have much red and orange to scatter. probably it would result in a kinda purple/magenta/pinkish colour? But oyu need to compromise between physics and what ppl expect in art. If i'm possessed to take this concept any further I'd play with it more, i just got so frustrated with the standard HLS colour picker (I should have switched it to RGB)

2025-01-20 08:45:16 +0000 UTCMaybe if the internal glow was tinted slightly? Like usually when you shine light through a hand or a cheek it's red because of the blood. I guess red and green makes brown though... but maybe it could be futzed with. Anyway, the art is very cute!
