What’s really super annoying is throwing that word around without understanding the point. Piccolo’s seriousness isn’t missing, it’s being undermined by lazy writing that turns him into comic relief just because he’s around kids. Handling them doesn’t mean his edge has to be dulled, but that’s the cheap route they’ve taken. I’m not criticizing Piccolo, I’m pointing out how his presence is being wasted with perfect clarity.

2024-10-24 09:26:19 +0000 UTCI kind of like the change in Piccolo, it shows growth that he is able to have emotions other than just anger at this point. He now has things he cares about isn't just a singular minded enemy trying to rule the earth. With the difference in power scaling at this point, it would just be him rushing into his death if he attacked Majin Buu, so it would be hard to have him involved in a way other than being on the sidelines I think.

2024-10-24 09:25:31 +0000 UTCAt first, I didn't believe you, but then I went to see a clip of the original Japanese sub, and lo and behold he actually calls him that. It just seems extremely uncharacteristic of Gohan to say something like that, but Japanese doesn't translate into English all that well sometimes and at the time that word wasn't considered derogatory like it is today. My guess is that in the Japanese version they probably meant for him to say something like idiot or moron, but the fact they went with the R word is kind of wild, but not entirely surprising since at the time here in the West, words like that were quite commonly socially acceptable insults.

2024-10-23 23:38:07 +0000 UTCAll of Gohan's latent power has been unleashed by the Old Kai so he doesn't even need to Super Saiyan. What he has awakened is power far beyond SS3. Look how far Gohan has come. He went from being smoked by the weaker fat Buu to toying with the stronger Super Buu.
