It was a few days later.

Mai received a call from a TV station, requesting her to come to the office urgently.

Mai promptly went to the TV station for a meeting and was greeted by the man who had been the host of her previous magic show.

"Thank you for coming so quickly. Please, have a seat."

Mai sat down without hesitation and immediately crossed her legs, relaxing.

"The reason we asked you to come is simple. Your previous escape from the water tank show achieved extremely high ratings."

"Well, I should hope so," Mai said, with a face that implied it was only to be expected.

"Therefore, the sponsors have requested that we plan a second installment, which is why we've asked you to come today."

However, since repeating the same magic trick wouldn't be innovative, they wanted her to perform a concept prepared by the TV station this time.

The documents handed to her by the person in charge had "Survival from a Hot Air Balloon" written on the cover.

The idea was that she would board a hot air balloon in a restrained state, then escape her restraints mid-air and survive.

Compared to escaping from a water tank where she couldn't even breathe, Mai thought it would be a piece of cake.

Perhaps a vast sky as a backdrop would look better on TV than a cramped tank.

Besides, it was flashy and easy to stage.

What particularly caught Mai's eye was the appearance fee. It was double her previous fee.

She grinned and immediately agreed to take the job.

舞の所にテレビ局から連絡があり至急事務所の方へ来てほしいとの事であった。

さっそく舞が打ち合わせのためにテレビ局へ行くと面会したのは前回のマジックショーの時に司会者を担当していた男性だった。

「早速来ていただいて申し訳ない、取りあえずそちらの椅子にどうぞ。」

舞は遠慮なく椅子に座ると早速足を組んで寛いだ。

「貴方に来ていただいたのはほかでも有りません。実は前回の水槽からの脱出ショーが非常に高い視聴率を叩き出したからなんですよ。」

「まぁ、そうでしょうね。」舞は当然と言わんばかりの顔だった。

「そういう訳でスポーンサーからも是非第２段を計画するように要望が有りまして、それで今日こうしてお越しいただいたわけなんですよ。」

ただし、前回と同じマジックでは変化が無いので今回はテレビ局側が用意した企画でやって欲しいとの事だった。

担当者から手渡された資料を見ると表紙には「熱気球からの生還」と書かれていた。

話では、拘束した状態で熱気球に乗り込み。上空から拘束を解いて生還すると言うものだった。

呼吸すらできない水槽からの脱出と比べれば、舞には楽勝にしか思えなかった。

狭い水槽よりも広大な空をバックにした方がテレビ映りが良いのだろうか。

それに派手さもあり、演出もやり易いのだろうか。

舞が特に目を引いたのは出演料だった。前回の倍のギャラになっている。

彼女はニンマリ笑うと２つ返事で仕事を引き受けることにした。
