SSFF Bumper Music (see attachment)

Hello Supporters!

Last year when we launched this Patreon, one of the first exclusive pieces of content I posted was the music used in the SSFF bumper including the unused pieces.

With Punching Weight and Past Mortem, I had to make new pieces so I thought I'd post them all over again, so check out the attached file for folder of all the used and unused bumper music.

Please note these were are written to be short pieces so don't get too excited about all this free music. Also none of them have real names and not all were really worth sharing.

Here's a quick run down,

SSFF Bumper Music 1 2nd: This is the official SSFF bumper music you're all familiar with. It might sound a little different because it doesn't have the VHS cassette sound effects layered over it like it does in videos. A lot of people have asked for the "full version" of this song but it may disappoint them to know that this is the full version. It was originally much simpler, it wasn't until I wrote #2 and #3 that I went back and took another swing at it. I actually didn't get it done in time, which is why the Jumping Flash review doesn't have a bumper. For the record, Clockwork Pixel animated the bumper extremely quickly!

SSFF Bumper Music 1: Same as "2nd" but mixed differently. I needed the music to sound like it was coming off of an old VHS tape and through old tv speakers, so this version is "brighter".

SSFF Bumper Music 2: Unused SSFF bumper music. I didn't like this one because it sounded too happy and I thought the melody was too simple.

SSFF Bumper Music 3: Unused SSFF bumper music. Like #2, I didn't like this one because I thought it sounded to scary and angry. #4 is a slight variation on this one, not really worth posting..

SSFF Bumper Music 5: An unused Punching Weight theme but similar to the finished one. To keep things consistent, I used the same tone's and same mix as the first theme. I got too complicated with this one. I liked that melody but it was too busy, it didn't work.

SSFF Bumper Music 5-3: #5 needed it be simpler, I knew the problem was the melody, but I took me some time to figure what to do out. This is just the bass line, which wasn't enough plus I accidentally left the metronome on for this version.

SSFF Bumper Music 5-5: Turns out just bending a single note was the answer for the overly busy melody. It took a bunch of attempts to get the right bend. I went with this one because there is a sharp swing right when the bass dropped. Made the impact of the "punch" heavier.

SSFF Bumper Music 6: For Punching Weight, I needed a brand new animation  from Clockwork Pixel, but for Past Mortem I wanted the gag of the tape "rewinding" back to when the Skeleton had skin, muscle, and clothes. To fit that motif, I wanted to remix the original theme. Instead of doing this in Logic (music software), I played with the speed and pitch of the original song in Premier (video editing software). When I had something that worked, I recreated it in Logic. I beefed it up a bit with extra layers and some reverb.  It's simple but that's proven to be the best course of action for these short bumpers.

SSFF Bumper Music 7: #6 came much quicker than the music Punching Weight, I think I second guessed myself and tried to make another original song for Past Mortem. But it didn't fit at all and I think I was out of creative juices at that point, so I stuck with #6

Sketch: The only original music I've made in the last 12-15 months is the SSFF bumper music. One of my 2016 goals was to get back into music. This is nothing serious but it's something I banged out using the tone's from the SSFF bumper music project, so it kinda fits with this group. Just an extra extra bonus 'cause I loves ya'

Enjoy!
