INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE (02x05) *REACTION* "DON'T BE AFRAID, JUST START THE TAPE"

We're pressing play on the most intense episode of Interview with the Vampire yet. Our favorite twunk journalist is ready for the tea to spill, but it might have been little more piping hot than he expected. 🩸☕️🔥

INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE (02x05) *REACTION* "DON'T BE AFRAID, JUST START THE TAPE"

Thanks for the recommendation. I actually just started watching Angel. I've only seen the first 5 episodes, but Spike has already shown up once,

Lavender Violet

Yeah but don't forget Lestat & Spike have major redemption arcs. Spike is one of my all-time favorite "villians" - high recommend watching the last season of Angel since it continues his story from Buffy (for anyone that didn't know)

Nadia (Livvycat)

I'm very content with this show. I don't want it to end, so I'm okay with bits and pieces. I respect all of the characters feelings, and background histories. I can understand why people go back and forth with some of the characters. However, I personally can't do that. I guess I have empathy for all of them. Armand is very complicated. I need to know more about him. I think he really loves louis. Lestat never respected louis. I can't get over the acting! It's Brilliant!

Patricia Grant

I truly hate Armand for how manipulative he is but knowing your boyfriend thinks you’re the most boring person on Earth and that he can’t get over his ex who is still in love with him also…that would be brutal. I can’t help but feel slightly bad for him. I know you guys don’t think Louis should be with Lestat but I can’t help but love Loustat. I know they’re toxic chaos but since they’re fictional vampires I’m going to overlook it. They just fit together and love each other in a way Loumand never have. This episode was so good. Im glad that Daniel and Louis have finally woken up to what Armand has been doing to them and now I want to see what other memories he has messed with like that season 1 episode 5 fight. Did you notice how Lestat yelling Louis name over and over again when he was fading from his connection with Armand was the same way he was yelling Louis name before the start of that fight? Armand has definitely changed some things around in Louis head. I need answers that don’t cause me to have 50 more questions. I love watching this with y’all. See you next week. 😙

I’ve always loved Daniel and this is my favorite episode as well. I’m so happy we’re getting more of him in this version!

Steven Harper

I don't know if you guys realized but Louis tried to @#$% himself directly after realizing that Claudia didn't ever actually truly love him.

ChrisNThings

This is the best episode by far I love it and Daniel is my favourite and glad people now jumping on that boat with me hahah I’ve been waiting for season 1 for people to like Daniel hahah also yall wouldn’t wanna come to Australia in summer as your 110 is our 40s Celsius hahah like we be burning

Ahh another amazing reaction you guys! This one was especially fun! All the theorising! Haha. This episode has definitely been my favourite of the season! I know you guys think Louis should be on his own but man, I'm that toxic girlie dying for the Louis - Lestat reunion. When Armand didn't pass along his message of love, oh my gosh, ouch!! :'( Again, so grateful you guys are covering this show. I feel like It's breaking my heart to watch so much talent go unnoticed due to lack of award recognition and marketing. I really appreciate that you continue to watch and show it appreciation. Definitely makes a perfect series addition to your channel! (Again, a highlight in my week! <3 )

Chey- It appears we are complete opposites when it comes to our fictional character preferences. 😂 I loooove the morally gray (or even just outright evil) characters the most almost all of the time. Especially when they are played by a charismatic actor/actress, which honestly is a necessity for a good villain. Favorite character in Hannibal (TV show): Hannibal. Favorite character in IWTV (TV show): Lestat. Favorite Buffy character: Spike. And on it goes.... 🤪. I give myself permission to do this in fiction because I am SO not that way in real life. In real life, would I ship a cannibalistic serial killer and a psychologically compromised empath? No. Is Hannigram/Murder Husbands (from TV Hannibal) my favorite fictional pairing? Yes! Not sure what that says about me. 🤔 On the other hand, I am not a fan of morally gray people in my day to day life. They tick me off and make me angry, but for some reason when it comes to fictional baddies I am all in. 🤷‍♀️

Lavender Violet

I saw somewhere that Armand doesn’t know how to interact with others without putting on a performance due to his trauma and that doesn’t excuse him at all but it gives so much insight into his character. He’s very controlling and everything is so calculated. Y’all are 100% correct!

Julia Barrera

As a (slightly guilty after this episode lol) Armand fan this was so interesting as to his character and just how much of a psychopath he can be (the scene where he was repeatedly dropping Daniel in the chair was really difficult to watch!) I love Daniel too and it was so cool to see nearly a whole episode of him being young, if you look at young pictures of Eric Bogosian he and Luke Brandon Field who plays his younger self look almost identical, the casting was immaculate! His and Assad's acting gave me chills, especially during the "what makes you fascinating" scene. That stare! Armand and Daniel have more interaction in the books which I was really hoping to see, however it is somewhat set up now so I'm just praying for season 3 🤞🤞 I commented on YT when some people were coming for you guys, I'm really into the fandom but you're right that some people don't seem to know it's fictional and it's so weird. You’re allowed to like or dislike any fictional characters you want! It's not some weird competition! Also I thought it was hilarious how it was such a serious episode and Daniel and Louis had just found out how badly Armand had fucked with them, then he strolls in at the end looking absolutely c*nty in those shades 😅

Mary

oh, that could also be the case, yeah! i guess we'll know soon enough and i'm with you - i'd enjoy seeing lestat's take on it all. louis's unreliability even in the present just makes me wonder whether there are other things that have gotten warped over the decades, whether through time itself or more repressed memories. that aside though, i think it'd just be heaps of fun to see daniel and lestat interact lmao

Aaron S.

I think re: c) I took it to mean what they point out in the first season is the difference between Louis' description of Lestat on the tapes and his one in Dubai, on the tapes he's way more scathing but in Dubai he's way more romantic (at least at first!) Even though I'm not the biggest Lestat fan I'm hoping he turns up in the present day and tells Daniel his perspective!

Mary

sorry for the essay but this episode absolutely gagged me like..... i haven't read the books (or rewatched the movie since i was a kid) so i can only speculate but the way they showed it, i took away a couple of points: a) loudaniel bestieeees (louis's words/affirmations being daniel's lifeline for decades [sob]) b) armand distorting both of their memories in this incident (basically hiding louis's own suicide attempt from louis for like 50 years????) makes me wonder in which other ways he's manipulated louis's perception of reality. that bitch is powerful c) armand basically spilling that louis's stories about lestat from the past were embellished = louis wanted to provoke lestat into reaching out to him again by doing the interview? maybe we'll get a more honest look at what actually happened in s1 in the remaining episodes d) something horrible..... horrible happened to claudia (and maybe louis?) in paris. i don't want it but i also can't wait that's like 10% of what had me quaking but this episode basically recontextualised the entirety of the interview so far and i'm super anxious and excited to see the other pieces slot into place. i feel like we're starting to see the bigger picture now.

Aaron S.

...love this episode!
