THE IDEA OF YOU (2024) *REACTION* FIRST TIME WATCHING!

The world said “rom-coms are back” but Anne Hathaway heard “mom-coms” instead and blessed us all! This first-time watch of THE IDEA OF YOU had us screaming over sexy music, sexy art AND sexy sex—sorry to our neighbors for all the moaning 🤭 🎵💋

Just wondering if you have watched any of the following Nick Galitzine film, some have him singing, The beat beneath my feet, Handsome devil, Cinderella and Purple Hearts, all very different characters ❤️

Ellie Steward

I love you two watching the beauty that is Nicholas Galitzine, you make the same noises I do, you will have a lot to watch next year from him and I'm so looking forward to you watching the trailer for Masters of the universe.......oh I can confirm Scunthorpe is a bit of a shithole to quote Hayes Campbell, I live near it and the line made me laugh so much.

Ellie Steward

I cried there with you guys. Thank you for the reaction!

I’m a bit older than you, Chey. 😁 I kinda love how our birthday is pretty much smack dab in the middle of Halloween and Thanksgiving. Autumn, of course, is my favorite season.

Where the book is concerned, I had the same reaction you did about her giving up Hayes for Izzy's welfare. (favorite moment in your reaction: "You better get up, bitch!") I thought "throw her in therapy and ride him around the world as many times as you can." But seeing the movie, I understand it a bit better now. Solene already had a full life before she ever met Hayes, she was accomplished, successful, despite trying to heal from a broken heart and trust. Hayes was a wonderful surprise. But remember Solene said Izzy was her favorite person. They only postponed their happiness.

I was looking forward to finally being able to watch this. Honestly I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about it. I figured I would probably think it was good and cute but I ended up really loving it. It can’t surpass my love of RWRB and all the Taylor Zakhar Perez of it but this was also a really good rom com. Anne is great in everything she does. A sequel would be nice and so would that August Moon tour because I’d be front row. You guys want to come with? 😂😂

4:15 Lol, me and Wes share a b-day (1/8/96) I remember when you posted this year! Great reaction as always, keep doing what you’re doing 😎 💯

Oh and his hand tattoo says WISH YOU WERE HERE

I think Izzy wanted to be supportive of her mom but wasn’t really prepared to be the target of some of the backlash. It’s hard enough to ignore bullying online let alone in person and from people you actually thought were your friends. I really like the way they did the ending. Waiting a little longer to try a relationship means they could make sure that their feelings were actually real and worth all the trouble. To me, it made their love more believable (especially because of the age difference) since the feelings were still there after all that time.

Thank you for a great reaction. I have read the book and this is a great adaptation. There are some differences but not to such an extent that the movie loses the spirit of the book. In the book Hayes is 20 and I am very happy they aged him up to 24. That said, Hayes shows that he is emotionally more mature than Ollie who is the same age, but he did not hesitate to humiliate Hayes and Solene in front of others. What also shows Hayes' maturity is that he fully understands Solene's decision because of Izzy and he supported it because he knew what it can do to a person's life. He did not want that for Solene and Izzy. I love the way they lost themselves in each other and became so full of life and vibrant when they were together. This makes their sacrifice even more heartbreaking. The quiet joy in both their faces at the end testifies to a deep and true love that will stand the test of time while, if they did not break up five years earlier, the turmoil might have destroyed their love. This time around, they know they can face anything. Absolutely adore this movie and it is definitely one of my comfort movies together with Red, White and Royal Blue 😍

You did a great reaction, second only to the movie itself. I felt like I was experiencing it again but this time with friends. You giggled and thrilled at all the same spots I did. The first time I watched the movie I wept uncontrollably from too many emotions. Speaking of which, at the end when they're kissing and the colors around them keep changing? It wasn't until my third viewing that I made the connection with the painting Unclose Me, that they were feeling "everything" with each other, those colors mirroring the painting. This film, the acting, the music, the performances are stellar, and I hope they both get recognized for it.

You should read the book...audiobook is really good also. That will definitely send you on another roller-coaster. Great reaction. In the book her daughter is younger. So that would have made more sense in why she broke up with him. Not a spoiler. Anne brought her A game. Nicholas is charming and sweet in this. I understand your love for him. When the screen went black at the end. I also was pissed. I couldn't let Hayes go. People would deal with it eventually 🤷 😕. Definitely continue with the Nicholas filmography.
