As a Korean, Let me explain the scene! The scene where Dong-mae grabs Ae-sin's skirt is soo important because it shows the way Dong-mae loves Ae-sin!! (That scene is absolutely famous in Korea lol) His love is soo intense and aspirational, yet tender and careful! SO grabing her skirt is the best courage he only can😭Just the touch of the skirt of Ae-sin can collapse Dong-mae... As you'll see later, he's in painful love🥹🥹

2025-09-13 19:22:58 +0000 UTCthe romance in this series is a bit different from what you might be used to. It’s a slow burn, which means instead of rushing into romance, it builds really slowly with subtle moments, tension, and unspoken feelings. thank you, excited for the next ep.

2025-09-05 09:07:11 +0000 UTCSmall clarification, Aesun (the gambling lady) is actually Aeshin’s cousin (not sister), because Aeshin calls Aesun’s mom “aunt” (the one shooting the bow and arrow this episode). Since Aesun is the daughter of the older of the two (now deceased) sons of Lord Go (the grandfather), I think that makes her technically a bit higher in the family hierarchy, hence why she sometimes talks down to Aeshin (as the daughter of the second son). Aesun’s already married though so she doesn’t actually live at the grandfather’s estate, but she still comes by sometimes to visit (and steal things to pawn off and fund her gambling habit haha). The dress-grabbing scene at the end with Gu Dongmae is not only a callback to when Aeshin saved him when they were younger and he wiped his blood on her skirt and insulted her (as a ‘naive noble’), but it also hints at the difference in social class between the nobles and lowborn commoners like butchers (who were treated pretty much like an untouchable class due to what was seen as the polluting job of working with dead animals). Aeshin, as a noblewoman, wears fine colored silks and her skirts go down almost past her ankles (which is different from the materials and lengths of clothing for most lower class women), so Dongmae holding onto her skirt is pretty transgressive and violating given the historical context (that’s part of why Aeshin appears fairly upset when he grabs it and doesn’t let go). In a similar vein, the fact that Aeshin usually tries to cover her hair with her overcoat/head covering when she is out in public is also a sign of her noble birth. Social class and hierarchy are major themes in the show going forward, so just wanted to clarify a bit! Love the reactions so far :)
