I imagine Thomas has a hard time accepting being spoiled, feeling like he needs to be the one doing something in order to have value. Tamara has to insist on letting all the attention be on him, something she does honestly enjoy being able to do for her big ol' Teddy Bear.

There is this feeling we, particularly big dudes, feel about having our value be based on what we can do for the people we love. I can't stress enough how difficult it is to feel worthy of this kind of affection, but when we are told to sit there and accept the attention, it touches us on the deepest level.
