The 2 big violin parts in the Tiny Desk concert are replacing guitar riffs in the original track— and in the original track they are reminiscent of riffs from Bohemian Rhapsody and Don’t Stop Believing. Thematically how they relate to Pink Pony Club makes me believe this was completely intentional. A young person singing to their mom about how they sold their soul to the devil + moving to the big city and not letting go of this big dream = Pink Pony Club

There are livestreams of her ACL performance from the weekend. I suspect it was another record breaking crowd. She did a great cover of Barracuda. Chappell live is IT.

2024-10-11 23:10:43 +0000 UTCalso I love that you guys loved Lucy! 🤣 she is still with Chappell till this day and performing with her at all her upcoming shows/festivals. We love LUCY! The rest of the girls switch in and out and perform with other artists but her current lineup has Lucy and some other really talented girls. Her Lollapalooza or ACL performance on YouTube has her most updated members but they all still support her from afar. This was a special ensemble for this performance. She has said publicly that Lucy (and some of the current members) are “like Velcro” and are here to stay from now on.

Her real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz but she wants to be called Chappell by anyone that is not a friend or family to honor her artistry. Chappell Roan is also her “drag persona,” since her style and project are all inspired by drag queens! Which explains her look and demeanor/personality in this video. I love that so much about her since she typically wears no makeup, wears plain colors and is pretty soft spoken on a non-Chappell Roan day. She says Chappell Roan is a project to honor her inner childhood dreams and everything she always wanted to be. As a lesbian and being part of of the LGBT+ community her goal is also to give back to them and honor them with her project. I saw her twice before she blew up this summer (which is surreal!) once at a bar with FIFTY PEOPLE😭 and the second show had 3k people - the difference due to her blowing up is crazy! Till this day, she always invites local drag queens to perform before the show and asks people to donate to them. Her concert is the best concert and performance I’ve ever been to (and I’m a big concert goer!) she encourages everyone to dress up and sets a theme for each show (I went to a pink pony club themed one and a mermaid themed one - so much fun!) a % of her ticket sales go to a foundation called for the GWORLS. I am not a musician but she has inspired a lot of aspects of my own art (photography!) and honoring that inner child of mine. Loved you guys’ reaction! I hope you guys continue to explore some other vids of hers (her VMA performance was incredible! as well as her Jimmy Fallon performance) and as a fan, I would love if you guys reacted to her Casual music video that was nominated for a lot of indie music video awards.

She has very specific themes to her performances, and the band doesn't get left out. Each concert has a theme so most of the audience will dress up as well. I think it's really a special thing she does that makes every performance a little unique.
