Still making experiments with the GFX medium format camera and my collection of lenses.
This last Weekend I tried the Leica Summicron-M 50mm, which is heavily vignetting, so much so that I had to shoot in square mode.
It is possibly due to the fact it is a lens for the Leica M system, and it is supposed to be placed very near the sensor, but the vignetting is not only a darkening caused by the edge of the lenses, it is actually a mechanical vignetting caused by the barrel of the lens itself.
But in square format the Summicron is spectacular and sharp also at the widest aperture!
I also tried the Contax-Zeiss Planar T* 100mm f2, and it is the most impressive on the GFX so far.
Apart from a slight darkening, there is no actual vignetting on this lens, not even wide open and focused at infinity.
Also the sharpness of this lens is magnificent on the larger sensor, and it is definitely the first lens I will use on my next shooting.
The equivalent focal lens on full frame sensor should be a 80mm, and the maximum relative aperture should be the equivalent of a f1.6.
This 100mm is one of my all time favourite lens, and I was using it also during this shooting with Cristiana, I'm very happy it is working to its full potential also on this new medium format camera, because it gives me even more of what I learned to love so much in the past years.
I know this is a lot of informations if you're not into photography, and you're just interested in beautiful women, but I hope you're going to benefit from the results of what's happening in the background when you look at the pictures from the future shootings.
