Fresh Ink
Added 2021-05-29 16:56:35 +0000 UTCI wanted to push the lights and rendering a little further than usual and thought some UV paint could work here... It was kind of a last minute addition (as you might see the sketch and the colors didn't really start like this) but as I was working on it, my Aqua drawing got mistaken for Kajinman's work (again...)
So yeah, obviously I'm not mad against anyone here, but I might have to reconsider a lot of things. It's pretty discouraging to be mistaken for someone else or seen as someone's imitation despite not even trying to... But in the end, I'm glad it motivated me to push things a little further, I like this picture.
On to the next one !

2021-05-31 13:06:05 +0000 UTCThank you, I appreciate it. I know mistakes happen and I don't want to make a big deal out of it. It just so happens that despite having tons of references and artists I look up to, I have never been compared to (or even mistaken for) any other artist other than Kajinman. And I wouldn't want people to think it is because I purposely try to copy him. If I have to be 100% honest, I learned most of my rendering techniques from Robaato's tutorials (the only tutorials I've ever followed) and nobody ever compared me to him. Which even if I'm not trying to copy him either, would make more sense, wouldn't it ? So yeah, I won't let it affect me too much, but if it is an indication that I can still improve/work on my Art's "identity", then I have to humbly take it. Thanks again !

Yeah, also I think this Aqua drawing got to be one of the the least mistakable one (since I used a pretty soft shading, that Kajinman almost never does) but given that it is also signed pretty clearly with my name, I'm starting to think the mistake was a lot more meaningless than it might seem. Still, my journey to make my art 100% unmistakable is far from over, which should be an encouraging thought !

Consider it this way, there are millions of artists out there and sometimes people just get mistaken for another, not everyone can get it right 100% of the time. Don't let it effect you outside a minor annoyance. You have the ability to draw some wonderful artwork, never forget that.
