Like the Imperium is the Bad Guy but often the bad guy stuff they do is a reaction and attempt to survive they don't Enjoy it they just do it.... Chaos Enjoys the stuff it does and they do even worse stuff.

Space Marines are genetically modified super Soldiers (to the point they might as well be Demi-Gods) many are well pretty much Warrior Monks as stated, some are different depending on their Founding Primarch. For example, the Space Wolves and successor chapters are Space Vikings, the Salamanders are the Kitty petting Pyromaniacs, the Dark Angels are Gothic Knights with a heavy dose of Paranoia. And so on but the most common are the successors to the Ultramarines since daddy Guilleman was very good at infrastructure and organisation and making Trade routes
