I will spoil NOTHING but say that the finale is really, really good! They weren't supposed to release screeners for this ep, but apparently, they decided to b/c of the clips that leaked on TikTok. (My roommates do a pod/YT channel centered in this universe, hence my good fortune!)

Bran the Builder

Also there is an episode in season 1 where leanore is off with a lover and she is NOT having it and he basically is like “their not mine so what?” But ill do my part anyway.

I’d love a reaction to Game of Thrones, but I understand the hesitation to commit to a long show. I loved it and it delivered top tier TV moments that I’ll never forget.

I love how they are showing her slowly evolving into that. I stopped reading the book before this point (to stop spoiling myself) but can see this going in a really interesting direction. I’ve seen some people discuss how both her and Daemon’s storylines have been “slow” the for the second half of this season, but I think they are doing really interesting things with their character arcs. And they need time for those changes to feel earned.

I’m looking forward to the series finale, and how it sets up what I expect to be a nuclear-type war in the next seasons. I watched a pivotal episode of GOT in season 3, then caught up and read the first couple of books. The problem with the end of GOT (imo) is the producers got beyond Martin’s material and rushed the ending. It was if trying to tell the story of Avengers Infinity War AND Endgame in 90 minutes. Too much to tell in not enough time and it was too rushed. If you ever want to watch what is some great TV, binge a season with some sick days, or snow days (orig from Michigan)

Rhaenyra's certainty in her actions is slipping into dangerous territory. She talks about preventing bloodshed but literally sacrifices these innocent people for her own 'devine' purpose.

I for one love seeing reactions from yall as folks who don't know the world and story (even though at times I wish I could scream the explanation for yalls family tree questions lol ). It's a fresh new perspective that you dont get much of from the internet who seems to know everything. If yall have the time to read: On the topic of Jace and why his father was Harwin Strong. Back in season 1 there was a short story thread where Rhaenerya is wedded to Laenor Valaryon (Corlys and Rhaenys' son who has blonde hair like his parents) but he actually turns out to be gay and therefore Laenor and Rhaneyra have a tough time having children. Because of this, they faked Laenor's murder and he was allowed to sail across the seas and leave behind his current life and his dragon, Seasmoke, who Addam of Hull now rides. Around the same time she starts an affair with Sir Harwin Strong, who the showrunners interestingly chose not to show much of their relationship at all. She has kids with Harwin Strong, Jace and Lucerys (who dies at the end of S1 by Aemond + Vhagar) But this is the reason Jace and Lucerys have dark hair and why it's a big deal because pretty much everyone in the realm knew that Jace and Luce weren't Rhaneyra + Laenor's true children. This was a big reason for the fight that caused Aemond to lose his eye (Aemond called Lucerys and Jace "bastards" and questioned their parentage which caused the fight). SIr Harwin Strong was also killed by his brother Larys (the weird crippled foot fetish guy) in a short scene in S1 where he burned down the room where Harwin and his father were sleeping in

Prime Time

At SDCC this year I think the only event they did was a screening of this episode on Friday night (two days early) with the showrunner and director of this episode there to introduce it. But I was surprised they didn’t do a full panel this year. I think this was the first season of either show that didn’t do a big panel with a bunch of the cast and George RR Martin. They did a Hall H one for HOTD S1 and even had all the different aged actors for before and after the time jump.

Great use of the internet to look up stuff in the meantime :) It's part of the fun of this world. There are a lot of turns, twists and betrayals still to come.
