Soo good. Better than I remember it years ago! Also, I'm watching this in anticipation for your Rings of Power Season 2 finale uncut reaction. The episode was everything I hoped it would be :)

I just finished watching all three of the movies with you in one day... and it was amazing. It has been awhile since I have watched them all the way through and glad I got to do so with the homies. Were you guys not getting the on screen translation of when they were speaking elvish? Maybe since I was watching it on Amazon and not HBOMax. Looking forward to start jumping into the new Rings of Power series tomorrow.

I will never forget going to see The Return of the King opening night with my sister with a packed house. And the moment where Gollum comes crawling over the rock when they are on the last leg on Mount Doom, the film caught fire... It is burned in my memory watching his head pop up over the rock and then the film begins to disintegrate. They eventually put in a new film and we finished it... but it was pretty hilarious getting through the multiple endings with anxious groans because it was well into the night and we were all exhausted from the journey. We all cheered and applauded when the movie ended. I am so glad you guys did this and I cannot wait for more movie commentaries! Agustin's insight was so great to hear, Hector's jokes and impressions had me rolling, and Adam's genuine reactions to things as they played out were a joy. It felt just like kicking back with my friends for a movie-night. Thank you guys for your awesome content! So happy to be a patron of yours. Cheers, so much love, and looking forward to Adam leading us through spooky season!!

Just because it hit me when hearing the translation from Augustin - when Elrond says he gives "hope" to the Dunedain, Aragorn's name among the Elves is "Estel". Literally, he is giving Hope back to Aragorn's race. And then Aragorn is saying he didn't keep any for himself, which is both sad, but accepting, I suppose. Don't quote me on this, as I don't have the Appendix in front of me or anything, but it might be a conversation they have earlier in the books they repurposed here. I am sure someone else can verify that.

Yeah, we're glad we started with the theatrical cuts because, 1. It allows us to do the extended cuts at a later date and 2. It' just another reason to revisit that version of the Tolkien lore.

I love that you did this and are so invested to do even more. I just watched the Extended-trilogy in theatres here in The Netherlands with one of my friends and it was even better than the theatrical version. My friend knew about the Saruman-scene and I had no idea it was coming, that was great. I also haven't seen The Hobbit Extended so I look forward to watch that with you guys eventually.

We love a happy ending for all these characters. They earned it!

Why the hell they cut Saruman’s death out of the theatrical I will never get lol

If you read through the appendices, Sam eventually joins Frodo and sails to Valinor as he was also a ring bearer even if just for a short time. Legolas also invites Gimli to sail with him when he leaves on the white ships as well.

Agreed it adds more context. The extended versions are my favourite versions for all films but Return of the King feels the most important. I totally forgot the Mouth of Sauron was not in the theatrical version because I never watch these versions. I was shocked. But yeah, I do agree about Two Towers

I do like the extended of TT though also. Gives Boromir and Faramir’s character more context and understanding

Adam Savage talked about destroying a minatures/bigatures and how it was actually something creators love because that was the ultimate goal. They also build them specifically so when they break they look spectacular with debris and small particles. As for the original universal monster movies ... I was shocked when I watched Frankenstein and realized it had no musical score. It was made during the time period right after silent movie but before they were able to also add a music track. It made what would have been a very interesting movie extremely boring. I ended up putting on some spooky ambient music and it made the experience a million times better. Would be great to hear someone put together a mix of a songs that perfectly lines up with the movie like a defacto-score.

This is the only Extended Edition that I think is necessary. Mostly because of the Saruman storyline. As for the extended Hobbits ... I would suggest seeking out the fan edit that turns the trilogy into a single movie. It has such better pacing and feels more true the book rather than being an attempted redo of Lord of the Rings.

Samwise is definitely the most strong willed character in all of Lord of the Rings. When you think about it. Smeagol killed his own brother for the ring, and Sam all that time travelling with Frodo never made an attempt at the ring. And especially on the side of mount doom, when Frodo can't go any further, he resists Sauron and fuckin carries Frodo on his back what a Mega chad. Sam is the best.
