Upcoming Patron Changes

Hi folks, I want to share some changes to our Patreon tiers that we are implementing in January 2023.

First, these changes will not affect your current patronage; you will continue to get the same content you have been every month. These changes will only affect new sign-ups and those who change their tier of patronage. Our goal is to make sure you’re fully aware of your options if you choose to make a change and that you’re aware of these changes in case you want to raise or lower your current pledge.

What are the changes?

The biggest change is that we're getting rid of the different "tiers" for Lair Magazine. Patrons both past and present have expressed that it can be confusing to not just get the entire magazine, but instead to only get parts of it depending on what level of patronage one has. So, beginning with the January 2023 issue, there will no longer be tiers in the magazine.

Instead, patrons at the $15 tier and above will get the entire magazine. Going forward, this will be the minimum tier to receive Lair Magazine.

What is happening to the $5 and $10 tiers?

We're turning the $10 tier into our "map pack" tier where patrons at that level and above will get all the maps we create each month. This includes the map packs that patrons have been enjoying since their inception, as well as the other maps we publish. Keep in mind that the other maps we publish from month to month vary in both quantity and type. The $5 tier will be the basic "entry-level" tier that most Patreons have.

All other tiers will remain unchanged. This includes the Ancient Dragon Reserve tier which gets you a spot in line to play in my ongoing Ancient Dragon campaign.

What does that mean for YOU, our current patrons?

Anyone who becomes a patron prior to January 1, 2023, will NOT notice any change unless you choose to make a change. You'll still receive the same patron benefits; you will be in effect "grandfathered in."

For instance, if you currently get "tier 1 and 2" of the magazine because you are at the CURRENT $10, you'll still get the equivalent of tier 1 and 2, even though the magazine won't have tiers. We'll just adjust the magazine PDFs as needed to simulate the tier system.

Basically, you won’t see any change in your benefits as long as you continue to be a patron at the same tier you’re currently at. However, if you leave and then return or modify your patronage, be aware that you will only be able to join at the new patron tiers. The old tiers and their benefits will no longer be available.
