"Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat." - Sun Tzu, the Art of War
Presenting my first fighter subclass, the commander. This subclass is built around controlling the battlefield by granting buffs to your allies and frightening your enemies into submission. It's heavily customisable thanks to the list of seven different battlefield expertises you can choose from, each of which reflects a unique style of leading that your character can rely on in battle. If you manage to get to 18th level, your character's inspiring presence on the battlefield even allows you to momentarily pull your soldiers from the brink of death and give them one final action before they become MIA.
I think I've really been on a roll with the quality of my subclasses so far this year, and this one is no different. The hardest part of this process was coming up with the battlefield expertises and making them all desirable, but once I figured that out, the subclass turned out exactly the way I originally envisioned it. All of the features have great combat potential that fit the theme of the subclass (that is, directing your allies and striking fear into your foes) nicely.
As I mentioned in my last post, I'll be starting a new job this month (tomorrow, actually), so I apologise if the rate of my content slows down somewhat. If you like this subclass and want to nab the high quality PDF version, you can of course head over to the patron dropbox where all of my other lovely stuff can be found as well.
v2: Renamed Battlefield Expertises to Battlefield Specialties to avoid confusion and completely reworked them to be more simplified and dice based, Imposing Presence's frighten is now triggered by a bonus action, removed first half of Insurmountable Authority to avoid the subclass being too busy
