(WIP) Rygolic gun & missile carriers
Added 2024-08-21 19:18:07 +0000 UTCStandoff vehicles. Haven't yet figured out what they'll be called under the new naming scheme. While lightly armored, these weapons carriers boast excellent firepower and mobility.
The 105mm gun carrier is equal parts Grizzly AVGP and Stryker MGS. (Technically that's a 00s design--but its remote gun turret heritage dates back to the 80s.) I had considered Rooikat and Cougar as well, but the Grizzly looked the best and kitbash donors for it in 15mm scale are most readily available of these. The MGS turret will be shared with the Rygo MBT (the X-Ray) as a common 105mm gun platform.
The missile carrier turret is sourced from an M901 ITV. As with the Grizzly & Stryker this is an easily sourced parts donor.
The same robotic arm from the Parallax returns, albeit in a different stowage configuration. Four joints seems enough to give it a fair range of motion (at least on that side). Things like firing ports and vision blocks have been deleted from the Grizzly hull as this isn't a personnel carrier.
On the right you can see some of the insane scratching I use to determine scale. Vehicle art boxes in the army books are 6.5 x 2.66 inches, and I use a scale of 1.5 real meters to 1''. This helps ensure vehicles are to scale with one another and that donor parts end up fitting together. I round distances to 1/16'' since that's what's on my ruler (along with, oddly enough, the numbers to my local police & fire services).
