Santagrine concept art - Yeoman Para & Black Fang

Some relatively low-detail noodling on a couple Santagrine units.

Yeoman Paras are a remnant of the Santagria that was: before the nuclear war and the rise of the atom barons. They once swore fealty to no lord, but a Commonwealth; and, though their uniforms now sport heraldic recognition flashes, their tactics and attitudes closely match those of the old national army.

While Santagria takes principally after medieval Iberia in its cultural inspiration, a lot of their toys in 198X are really British (in keeping with my usual mix-and-match style). Their basis is the classic post-50s Para: camo smock, submachine gun, and beret. As sober, hard-nosed, professional troops- contrasting with the quixiotic feudal levies and would-be knights surrounding them- I thought it'd be funny to also tie in a bit of Cromwell's New Model Army. Hence I made an alternate camo smock taking after a 17th century buff coat. I prefer it to the more conventional type.

Black Fangs are- as you've seen before- heavily armed berserker-janissaries. By 198X their masters are shadows burnt into manor walls and they wander their cursed country as ronin of sorts, searching for a trace of their departed lords. Updating them from their fantasy-era full plate has been a challenge. This iteration is vaguely Operation Nimrod SAS-esque; black coveralls, gas mask, and form-fitting body armor. I'm still not all that pleased with it and I'd like to give it another pass in the near future.
