(WIP) Runner & Wave weapon carrier standees
Added 2024-04-12 20:41:06 +0000 UTCHello all. For my first post here (as they say- the first one's always free), have a peek at some progress on more Federal printable standees. These will be for the Runner and the Wave, the F.S-A.'s light self-propelled missile and automatic mortar platforms.
Everything, of course, begins on paper. I fit my standees into 2'' x 2'' boxes- here, you can also see the regular Grumble & Bantam personnel carriers and some Federal infantry. (I don't reserve pages for this- any open space will do, alongside more regular drawings.)
You'll notice that none of them are particularly complete. I reuse parts where necessary- the kneeling mortarman becomes an ammo-bearer for the recoilless rifle, and I leave space for the vehicle commander in open hatches.
Sometimes, I also digitally edit things post-scan if they're not so unsatisfactory as to be redrawn. The recoilless rifle- originally fully 2D, like its operators- ended up having a visible third leg in a similar perspective as the vehicles. I'm reminded of Medieval: Total War, with its sprite artillerymen operating low-poly 3D cannons.
But I digress. The Runner and Wave can be thought of as turretless Grumbles, with some sort of pop-up weapon hiding under a cover. (I've provided their more detailed army book drawings here for reference.) So, I edit out the turret; scan the page; and paste in, color & shade the pop-up guns. There you go- another two variants down.
