in the middle
of the mountain
I am
*
in the belly
the cave
the womb
*
terrible
Mother
who births
*
everything
There
nothing
*
Grandmother
a midwife
to this
*
ancient darkness
I labor
now i moan
*
now I am
nearly consumed
not quite
*
i growl
i pray
to Jesus
*
We give birth
to our shadow
We shed,
*
We become
luminous
King Cobra
*
sss; ssss; sssss
under that silvery
full moondisc
*
the dakini
sees me
riding on the horizon
*
three horses
one white
one sand, one dark
*
I dismount
in the middle
standing,
*
two black snakes
merge, entering
the center
*
the dakini sees me
i see her;
seer, seen
*
lost together
no other way!
the horses gallop
*
into the twilight
and it is her and I
and the moon
*
and the entrails
of a raven
We enter
*
the cave
in the middle
of the mountain
*
the sky iris
twinkle
— a feast!
