Vinland Saga 2x6 Reaction Extended (YT link below)
Added 2023-06-30 19:02:59 +0000 UTCIn Vinland Saga 2x6, Wholesome Saga continues as farm bros Einar and Thorfinn pick up rocks, do daily chores, and all other manner of sidequests in the vague hopes that it leads to a horse. But then it actually does! And the retainers can't even do anything about it. Good day overall.

I actually really like that train metaphor. And I'd say Thorfinn and an Eanir have more. Genuine love between two people is better than all the riches of the world. It may not always feel like that in a moment, but I know from personal experience that genuine relationships and peace with oneself is more important than wealth and power. I feel That if Canute keeps going down, that path of power, he's gonna lose more and more of himself. Usually what happens to people that say that ends justify the means. It's a cover up before their desire for power. Thorfinn is such a great character. Also I wanted to know what your schedule is for releasing these vinland reactions? I just joined your patreon and was wondering. Have a nice day Goodwin

2023-06-30 21:08:36 +0000 UTCSuch a good reaction man. Really loved the discussions. Especially for what would be considered one of the most "boring" episodes of the season (It isn't boring ofc).

2023-06-30 21:04:25 +0000 UTCNice comparison there! Yeah trauma is such a contradiction sometimes. In one way you are haunted, older than than your years but then you are stunted, and are playing catch up with all the years lost.

2023-06-30 20:54:09 +0000 UTCWith Thorfinn it reminds me a bit of Denji. This probably happens in real life, but you expect someone like Thorfinn and Denji to be super adult from their trauma, which is true to a certain extent, but when they are put in a more stable environment with all of the little things of everyday life they have this childlike curiosity and vulnerability. Obviously the two characters are very different, but they are similar in that regard

2023-06-30 20:08:05 +0000 UTCIn a season with masterpiece level of episodes I think it’s easy for this one to get not included in people’s top 10 but oh my god I love this episode soo very much! I’m right there with you that it brings a tear to my eye too. Thorfinn being an “overgrown baby” 🥺 A boy who only knew war, now has the curiosity of a child. He’s a little child, emotionally stunted, but eager to learn about the world he is now inhabiting. Asking questions, becoming more active, allowing friendships and connections. It’s a step in the direction of wanting to live. And what can I say about Einar?? He’s an absolute miracle worker without breaking a sweat. He’s such a bleeding heart that making a connection with Thorfinn is as easy as breathing for him. It’s soo genuinely sweet and I just wanna cry again because these two are soo precious to me. I love them soo very much!

2023-06-30 19:59:13 +0000 UTCYukimura Twitter thread for 2x6: “Thank you for watching episode 6 ‘I need a horse’. The scenery of the farm in summer is beautiful! I want to be able to draw beautiful colour backgrounds. I can’t draw this. I’ve only drawn line drawings. I have Bamboo’s background art book but I’m going to draw it according to the explanation. But it doesn’t work at all. Why?? (he’s referring to Studio Bamboo who are the separate studio who have done all the stunning backgrounds scenes that you have seen in BOTH season 1 and 2. Once again another component of the same staff who wanted to stay with the project even with the studio change from WIT to Mappa) Whenever I give advice to a newcomer, I always say, “Take care of the background.” The background is the world in which the character lives. I can think of anything. Whether it’s warm or cold, what time it is, the angle of sunlight is different from Japan. (He then rambles for a bit about how the place probably smells like shit, goes in a tangent on that concept and then suddenly says “Why am I talking about this?” 😄) Ah yes, the background was beautiful! This time, it was a story like ‘Anne of Green Gables’ with Bamboo’s background. Combining Fist of the North Star and Anne of Green Gables. Ridiculous concept before the start of serialisation. You’ll learn alot on this farm, Thorfinn. Sverkel is probably in his 70’s. A great elder in this Viking age. In the past, people rarely lived to 70. Live very long. I’m so glad, Thorfinn. I’ve got adults who take good care of me, and I’ve made some good friends. It’s better to have friends. It doesn’t have to be many. Family is fine too. When I’m wrong, it’s hard not having someone to tell me, “You’re wrong.” I think you need friends and teachers when you grow up.”
