In Haikyuu 3x8, An Annoying Guy, you can feel creeped out by Hinata but you gotta respect him.

It may just be on my end but I don’t see the 25th episode of Haikyuu season 2

I wouldnt put it past Tanaka and Nishinoya that this is just a catchphrase for them

To go a bit deeper into Ushiwaka’s desire to crush Hinata. It’s clear that Ushiwaka doesn’t judge a player by his height, referring to the “small yet skilled players” he has faced. I think he has a ton of respect for people who polish their skills that much, with their hard work being distilled into results. Then Hinata comes in like a car through a wall without that same image, all piss and vinegar, and Ushiwaka sees him as a fool. Generally when we think someone is a fool, we expect them to fade into their foolish obscurity and fail at life, but Hinata just has a way of making himself heard. Ushiwaka greatly respects people who succeed in the sport with distilled talent and hard work, so I think he almost sees Hinata as blasphemous to that image of those players. He believes that someone like Hinata SHOULDN’T be able to succeed. Like you said he’s a threat. This probably treads on a lot of the grounds you already plodded on in the video, but I just wanted give how I interpreted it.

I understand his feeling I think. And as I said I think there's something about it that stems from a feeling of being crushed. It feels very reactionary to pain

Alex G

Ukai's scream hurts just like Iroh's Leaves from the Vine 😭💔

"I want a simple strength that can make anyone surrender." Something about that line knowing his failures as a volleyball player feels so sad and depressing. Anyways, I'm excited to see you react to the end of the season. Also excited to just get your thoughts at the end of the season as a whole. This show is just so incredible and so many of its philosophies extend outside of sports to just any passions or work that someone does.

Skyler Anderson

It really is an amazing line, and so powerfully delivered

6:40 "What is this 'soy'?" --> It's just a random yelling noise. Like "yay" "whoo-hoo," and so on. I haven't confirmed this, but it seems to be a Haikyuu original. (The more common ways to say "hell yeah!" / "let's go!" would be "yossha" or "yoshi" or "yosssshhhaaaa" or some variation of that, and Haikyuu characters use that one, too, like at 9:24)

The coach for Shiratorizawa has an interesting perspective since he was playing volleyball before the position of Libero became official in tournaments, so being a smaller person handicapped his attempts at becoming a regular player, and as a result he came to view volleyball as a sport that was walled off for individuals with height and power. Obviously as the sport evolved and the meta changed the libero became a key position in a team's defence and we get guys like Nishinoya, who although small, are huge players in their teams. Obviously that's not too much of an excuse since we have shorter players like Hinata playing middle blocker and going up against the biggest and best in his prefecture, but it's easy to see where the coach's bias for natural gifts, such as height and strength, stems from. Great reaction as always!!

I'll definitely watch them back to back. Whether or not I can release them simultaneously will just depend on time

Alex G

A lot came out about the coach this episode! Those glances make a lot of sense now.

Alex G

Ive mentioned to him that its best to watch them back to back rather than a gap inbetween. No idea if he will release them back to back tho

Great moment for Ukai, and unfortunately the final episode for Ukai's original voice actor Kazunari Tanaka who passed away from a Brain Hemorrhage after this episode was recorded I appreciate the differences in coaching styles that the show highlights, and while Ukai probably isn't the best coach in the show, I think the fact that he's new to it is what allows Karasuno's out of the box play style to work so well. With the party boy school from the start of the tournament the coach they had was far more by the books and didn't really have a way to guide the players to take advantage of their improvisational play, whilst I think Ukai really encourages his team to have as diverse a toolbox as possible.

God, if you can hear me, let AGoodwin post the rest of this season asap🙏🙏🙏🙏

I would highly recommend watching the last two episodes of the season together. Watching them weekly is probably the most painful week wait of my life.

Reminder- similar to the previous season, there's an additional ending clip to watch after episode 10. Hopefully this video is available in your region. If not...well it's part of the ending of the Haikyuu movie "concept no tatakai" *spoilers* https://youtu.be/Utjg2EmYqE8 Also after the end of the season and before starting season 4, there are two OVAs you must watch- Riku vs Kuu(Land vs Sky) and Boru no michi(The path of the ball) It's cute how after Kageyama rejoins the game and is ready to serve, he has this stupid little dorky smile on his face showing his absolute love for volleyball and the joy it brings him. Also, like Tendou said last episode, it kinda does seem like Ushijima doesn't like the fact that he doesn't understand Hinata and hence in turn thinks he doesn't like Hinata. Also, haven't watched your reaction yet so I'm looking forward to seeing what you have to say about Coach Washijo. He's such an interesting character. After having seen a glimpse of his past and him constantly glancing at Hinata, do you smell the jealousy and misplaced resentment but also curiosity? And finally, every time I hear Coach Ukai's "Don't you dare look down!! Volleyball is a sport where you're always looking up" it sends chills down my spine and makes me teary eyed, knowing his VA Kazunari Tanaka passed away on the 10th of October 2016 due to a brain haemorrhage at 49 years, and this was his last line in the series. RIP.
