In Haikyuu 3x6, The Chemical Change of Encounters, Daichi flashbacks prove what we already know, that he's the man and the backbone of the rising crows.

I mean, they sorta explain it way back in the Season 1 game against Nekoma when Kuroo does it, but I guess it takes already understanding it to know that it's the same move.

I completely get your point about the pump fake but I would’ve not known what that was if they hadn’t translated it because no one really explains it before or after

SO, 4th set is done but we can see that everyone is nearing their exhaustion point, specifically Kageyama. It's so realistic how they portray the tiredness you feel. Let's see how they handle the tie breaker set! Did you notice how Tsukki shows concern for Kageyama in his Tsukki way? lol Lastly, Yamaguchi will come in to pinch serve and only do his float serve since that is the serve no one else on the team can do and has a higher chance of scoring. So you don't have to worry if he won't do it!

That mental image of Kageyama is killing me😂 I never thought of it as him being jealous, but that makes it 10x's better.

Building on what Goodwin was saying at the beginning and end, what I like most about the flashback this episode is that I think it represents the case for probably most school sports teams. They don't have a coach, so they have to coach themselves, and even if they want to, it's not easy to explain to others something that you might only understand intuitively yourself. 11:00 Still annoys me that they translate a "pump fake" as "oNe PeRsoN TiME diFeRReNcE" as if that English existed. Like, c'mon translators. Touch grass, and watch a game, maybe, haha. But more importantly, I think it's easy to miss why the fans in the stands say that the pump fake is pretty "ballsy." (Or word-for-word in Japanese, why their "livers are seated," haha, which just means they're acting unafraid) Basically, setting to the middle like Tsukki or Hinata, the opposing team blockers can get to you really easily if they know it's coming. You can take one big step to get from the side to the center, but getting from one side of the court to the other is harder. So, when you set to the center, you're basically relying on speed; you're hoping the other team isn't ready for it, and so usually you use a quick. Tsukki knew they'd expect that, and instead he gets Kageyama to set a pump fake. If they don't fall for it, that would mean you've taken your quick attack and just made it slow for no reason, and now you're almost certainly going to get blocked by a few people. So, pump fakes are high-risk, high-reward, and fairly uncommon in modern volleyball. 11:47 "Why does he look and sound like a villain?" I think I mentioned it before, but it's the same voice actor as Frieza from Dragonball, haha.

Kageyama in bed: “he’s probably thinking of other setters”

Planning on starting season 2 this week

From Daichi, Suga and Asahi's perseverance to Kageyama's hunger for the game, this was such a great episode! Also this episode really sheds light on how tiring a setter's position is- probably the person who touches the ball most, controls the spikers and in Kageyama's case, requires total concentration and precision. And like Kageyama himself and even Oikawa said, he has to keep up with his little monster of a friend aka Hinata. It's inevitable that the exhaustion gets to him first. It is also nice seeing Tsukki compete with Hinata even though he refuses to admit it- he really does hate losing. Also it's adorable how everytime Kageyama hears about other team's setters practising with his spikers, he gets so riled up- which I'd like to think that he's possessive of his spikers and is jealous they are practicing with other setters.

@Goodwin TV Awesome, no rush though.

Chris Sharpe

Hey Goodwin, question for you. What's your release schedule looking like? Really excited to see you react to the masterpiece that is the second season of Vinland Saga.

Alter Nate

Yup I'm gonna film a long overdue catch-up video this weekend I think

Alex G

Quick question, can we get a more thorough story about the slugfest in the elevator? Don’t mean to push, I’m just morbidly curious.

Chris Sharpe

I love the whole thing about “chance favors the prepared” and the third years prepared as best as they could for this one chance. Bluelock explores that a little bit more near the end of the season that’s out right now, it’s great

Sunny

Daichi is the man. I love that the entire team is able to play at the highest levels of the prefecture now, but I'm the most happy for Daichi. He's struggled and persevered so much for this opportunity.
