@Big_Yoshi Yeah there is just so many positives to Maki and we've only just met her this season. She's third in her class only behind the two geniuses themselves, she is the daughter of the Shijo family and heir to their riches/power, She is cute as fuck, and she's a great friend who is fun to be around and super supportive. Maki only gets better and better as the manga goes on as well, I pray to god we get Season 4, Season 5, Season 6, etc. Also... B I G Y O S H I

Having a wingwoman who's just overall a great friend to you can really be a confidence booster, and knowing that he wouldn't have to walk around alone if he was rejected gives him much less to lose yknow? Like the worst kinds of rejections in scenarios like this are ones where you have to walk around alone stuck with your own thoughts afterwards

She is such a great wingwoman for Ishigami in this episode, and I love it when she says "Don't worry. If it doesn't work out, I'll hang out with you." What a great gal, just all around a fun person to be around, she’s just naturally likeable. And the jokes about her suffering are always hilarious, but I do feel bad for her at the same time, which is kinda what makes it so funny.

The backstory was great, the absurdity of the Ramen Kings always gets me laughing out loud, Kaguya's passion was great (not to mention her voice acting!), the dynamic between Maki and Ishigami is one of my favourites, hilarious, and suprisingly wholesome too! And then to just see someone being so deep in the process of growing, and that it succeeded (even though it didn't have to to be really great) was just the cherry on top!

2022-08-06 00:40:14 +0000 UTCI just thought of this on this rewatch. In a way, Ishigami is where Miyuki was a year before. Miyuki was drowning in his insecurities but it was the decision to reach for the moon and become a man worthy of being next to Kaguya that began his growth. Ishigami is now doing something similar by reaching for his “impossible girl,” Tsubame. Great character writing. Maki giving our boys that push they need despite her own struggles makes her so lovable.
