Anime eye color is hella varied most of the time
for me I have a hard time if the eyes are drawn strange and then if i look at them too long i get freaked out cuz \they are staring into my soul and i do not like it\ (also applies to normally drawn eyes)
an example i can give is the pokeball eyes in an anime called Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World (a.k.a Kimisen) for why? that's not normal or ok please stop staring at my soul thank you
Edit: I'm sorry how could i forget the GOAT EYES in Welcome to the Ballroom XD https://i.gyazo.com/540d8fcac8e98b2de761fd49b855a0cb.png

My idea is Yor was ordered to kill Anya by the science people and Loid was tasked with protecting her by some other people I haven’t thought of yet

Isayama the mangaka of Attack on Titan did a sketch of the SpyxFamily characters and it’s so cute
Probably means he’s a fan himself which is so cool. I really love when creators of my favorite series are fans of my other favorite series:)

pfft she's just confused. In the manga, she's steaming and surrounded by a bunch of question marks

Anya doing her little hopping and skipping in the ed reminds me of Ushio from Clannad: After Story which makes my heart hurt lol

Idk why but I find it kind of hilarious that literally every single person I know that’s seen this episode (me, my friends, reactors, etc.) are all just totally clueless as to why Yor was steaming during the Opera lmao. Like everyone has their own ideas and a few notions do make more sense than others, but there’s no definitive reason or clear/distinct implication that they were going for, and I love that lol

“We all got bodies. Except for Anya,”
“Maybe they stuck the landing that time,”
“There’s something really nice about being an open book,”
“The more you have things sort of squared away with yourself, the easier it is to be honest with others,”
“TOGETHER. We sleep to-NO. Come on. You’re just wasting time,”
“Needle Queen! Needle-Thorn Princess!” (brb, only referring to Yor as ‘Needle Queen’ from now on)
“Franky too! Franky just does everything! He’s a one man army, this guy,” (so glad to see Franky Franklin won’t go under-appreciated here)
Anya: I can wash my face all by myself!
Goodwin: That is amazing
(in reference to Loid’s room) “You’ll get there eventually. Or maybe not. Is this gonna be like a ‘will they, won’t they’ kind of thing? They *will* though-if they don’t kill each other first,”
“And then-minor detail-they’re EXTREMELY good-looking. So if they have *pulses*, you know,” (this is the best twiyor shipping i’ve heard in a good while)
“I’m not an expert; I don’t have any kids. And there’s probably a layer of hell reserved for people who talk about kid advice who don’t have them,”
“Kindness is not always a kindness in result,”
“My one weakness: human beings,”
“We are upper-crusting it. THIS is how you upper-crust, ladies and gentlemen!”
“The Mama Section’s extra bloody,”
“Is that next? We’re gonna get ourselves a dog?”/ “Ninja! The dog is a ninja,”/ “The dog is just an accountant. He does their money laundering,”/ “Gangster. The dog is a gangster,”
“Remember that time we stopped a purse snatcher together? With our daughter?”
“This is as upper crust as I’ve ever seen. What are they, drinking tea?Oh yeah, it’s hot cocoa. They got matching cups and everything. He’s wearing a TIE, in the *house* that’s not loosened,”
“Because mediocrity or averageness is sort of the norm, to do well, you don’t even have to be exceptional; you have to be just slightly better than normal,”
“I think I sort of share Anya’s view of art. Are there ‘chichis’?
Focus, Alex, focus. This is the ending reaction,”

A little thing I LOVED this episode: Yor's earring clinking as she turned her head toward Loid. Earrings do that All. The. Damn. Time. And it's the first I can recall seeing The Earring Clink in anime.
Just a little detail that shows the care put into this show

I was smiling throughout the whole episode and then i teared up at the ED. The last part of the ED is very cute and wholesome, especially when they dance together. I just can't. This show is super wholesome

Fun little SxF fact: the peach background while the Forgers all smile at each other at the table was the opening shot of the manga. The translation I read said 'And thus the world maintains its thin veneer of peace'. I quote that at least weekly.
So watching episode one start off with a car exploding was DEFINITELY unexpected lol

Okay, so, hopefully this is where having a language nerd in the chat proves useful. This episode was a doozy:
- The mock interview misunderstanding is based on a pun. Loid asks for Yor's 'shibou riyuu.' Those words can either mean "reason for wanting to get in (to a school)" or "cause of de*th." Yor interprets it in a way that no Japanese speaker in their right mind would, haha, but we've seen that she maybe believed the whole "concussion therapy" thing, so who knows.
- That same mock interview, the subtitles say "K**l me now. Next question." Whoa.... that's adding a lot. All that Loid says in Japanese is 'shitsumon o kaemasu.' ("I'll change the question.") He's pretty composed on the surface at least. I'm not sure what to think about that.
- The line about humans looking like trash is super famous in Japan, and worth knowing. It's from the Ghibli movie "Laputa: Castle in the Sky" by Miyazaki. I won't put a link this time to the quote, but just search for "Muska humans look like..." and you'll get plenty of results.
- Yes, indeed, Anya at the end calls Loid a 'ts*ndere.' (From 'tsun-tsun' or prickly and harsh on the outside, but 'dere-dere' or lovey-dovey and soft on the inside)

They did something interesting with this episode that I didn’t expect. The first episode had to adapt many pages, so it felt a little rushed, the second episode was in the Goldilocks zone, with just enough pages, while this episode was actually a smaller chapter. Most of what you saw was anime only, the only things in the manga was, like, the first minute, the mock interview, the restaurant, the museum, the opera, the theft interaction, and everything after. They did the anime only things very good, and I think it helps with pacing when they aren’t trying to stretch out runtime or mash together two unrelated chapters.

Hmm.... I've tried twice to comment, but it keeps getting deleted. Maybe it's the links? Or content moderation? :/ Or I just really suck at this, haha.
Edit: I think I found out. I think certain key words or terms involving ... cessation of life... might get automatically detected on Patreon and cut. Given the subject matter of this show, I'm hoping my hypothesis is wrong, but that's what I've got so far.

Oh my, this episode.... well, here's hoping having a language nerd in chat proves useful:
1) The mock interview misunderstanding is based on a pun. Loid asks Yor what her 'shibou riyuu' is. That pronunciation could either mean 志望理由 "reason for wanting to get in (to the school)" or 死亡理由 "cause of death." Somehow, Yor interprets Loid's question differently than essentially every Japanese speaker in their right mind would, haha.
2) Wow, the subtitles! At 11:43, Loid is (on the surface, at least) still composed. He just says 'shitsumon o kaemasu' (質問を変えます) "let me change the question." But the translator added that "Kill me now" to the beginning. I'm not sure how I feel about that one... that's adding a layer of sarcasm and sass that isn't in the original.
3) The quote from anime that Anya says about people looking like trash is actually super famous in Japan, and worth knowing. It's from the classic Ghibli film by Miyazaki called "Laputa: Castle in the Sky" (https://epjapanesey.com/muskas-quote-look-the-people-are-like-rubbish/)
4) Yes, indeed, Anya does call Loid a 'tsundere.' (From being 'tsun-tsun' or prickly and harsh on the outside, and 'dere-dere' or lovey-dovey and soft on the inside)

Oh my... this episode. Well, here's hoping that having a language nerd in chat can prove useful:
1) 11:30 at the interview is a sort of misunderstanding based on a homonym. Loid asks for Yor's 'shibou riyuu.' That pronunciation can mean different things, either "reason for wanting to get in (to a school)" (志望理由) or "cause of death" (死亡理由). So, Yor misinterprets the question as what kind of cause of death might there be. (Just so we're clear... no Japanese speaker in their right mind would've interpreted Loid's question that way, haha, but it's Yor, and she might have believed that concussing and grenading patients was helpful)
2) 11:45 Wow! "Kill me now. Next question." <-- that's all in the subtitles only. Loid just says, "Let me change questions." (質問を変えます) That's taking some pretty huge liberties. In the original, Loid is (on the surface), much more composed.
3) That 19:33 anime quote about the people looking like trash is super famous in Japan, so worth knowing. It's from the Miyazaki Hayao movie Laputa: Castle in the Sky (https://epjapanesey.com/muskas-quote-look-the-people-are-like-rubbish/)
4) 23:55 Yes, indeed, Anya did call Loid a 'tsundere.' Basically they are "tsun-tsun" or hard and prickly on the outside, but "dere-dere" (lovey-dovey) on the inside.

I must just be a sucker for Slice of Life anime, but this was easily my favourite episode of the series so far. Fuck the spy shit, I wanna see Yor x Forger x Anya family wholesomeness. I watched this whole episode with a massive smile on my face, it just felt good. The level of detail the writers have with the specific characterization of each one is impressive. I can't think of the last time I loved 3 different characters so much so early on in a show...maybe Arcane? I also learned that a lot of this episode was anime original content, more signs that this show is in good hands based on this material.
