A Few Updates and Questions

1. No To Your Eternity today but definitely next week. The reason for the delay is I took a trip to my girlfriend's hometown and had time scheduled for both work and sightseeing but through a series of unexpected events I ended up meeting her parents and entering a sort of "getting to know you" phase with them.

2. I deleted all Fruits Basket videos from YouTube. This was due to the fact that I received my 2nd copyright strike from TV Tokyo for Fruits Basket videos. After I received the first copyright strike I reached out to them hoping to find an agreeable solution but their response was another copyright strike. It's worth noting that these were all for older videos, since I stopped posting FB to YouTube after the first copyright strike. What this suggests is that they are exploiting the copyright system to create double (or triple) jeopardy for me and take my channel down for the same offense. Since the third strike would mean the deletion of the entire channel, I decided to preemptively delete all FB videos rather than risk it. It's unfortunate but the good news is that thanks to you guys I am able to keep doing Fruits Basket for Patreon. I still plan on doing both versions of the videos for those who like the longer videos and those who like the more condensed format.

3. But this leaves a huge gaping hole in the YouTube schedule. While I'm not going to schedule exact dates yet, what I'd like to do is throw in Arcane, which I think is 9 episodes and is currently highly requested.

4. The time is drawing near to vote on a new show. While I know it's sort of strange to do a pre-poll-poll-QUESTION: any ideas for the best way to select shows for the poll? I want to do it natively on Patreon so that means a maximum of 25 options.

Comments

Hunter X Hunter for me. It lost in the last poll by only a few votes so it would be fair to include it in the next. Star Wars The Clone Wars would be very interesting and if you've already seen all the Star Wars Shows you could react to The Book of Boba Fett and The Kenobi series. It would definitely help grow your channel! (I'm excited for arcane)

Seimän

Off topic question. I was thinking of traveling a bit in the future, not anytime soon but before I get out of college and remember you talking about your trips. Any tips as to where to find cheap lodging or how to plan a trip effectively?

Anya Mcghee

Erased and Infinity Train are not too long

Ashton Yeremian

Arcane would be my top pick!

Sean D

Some of the shows people recommended are also TV Tokyo, so that might help to narrow things down.

Merfhew

Arcane is great! Would love to see you react to Mob Psycho 100!!!

Slayer Arcane and Demon

benj

Arcane and Demon slayer

Woah

Demon slayer and Arcane!

Jonas Bråten Hansen

Arcane is fantastic

daniel kurtz

BESTO FRENDO

benj

Jujutsu Kaisen!!!

Majestic Turtle

I've got to put in my two cents for Assassination Classroom. 2 seasons, a good all arounder show, and plenty of lessons for you to talk abt.

Geneva The Weeba

Definitely vote for giving Infinity Train another chance! Plus you should be able to finish it pretty quickly, in time for AoT

Rebecca

Steins;Gate!

TheTrashBandit

You should react to Re:Zero

Nick Laurindo

86 is INCREDIBLE, don't understate it that show deserves way more love

benj

I would recommend sword art online. It is one of my favorite series. Also another good one is record of a grancrest war it only has one season but is a really good story

Billy Nowosielski

Arcane is amazing! definitely would watch those reactions. I'd also like to see you react to Death Note, Gravity Falls, or Broadchurch

Aidan Pullen

Id say Black clover or One pice , but the 2nd woud be quite long xD

Karsten Hase

I would love to see Ouran High School Host Club

Caitlyn Marais

86 is pretty nice

Adam salhi (starwarsguy)

I'd enjoy seeing you watch Arcane. Haven't finished it myself yet but it's pretty good, and it would work well as a short "filler" series like Invincible was.

jdthebud

If you haven't watched it yet, Star Wars would be awesome to see you react to! Obviously the movies, but there are two animated shows (The Clone Wars and Rebels) which are both really good! It would be a little different from what you watch, but there's a lot of content, and those animated shows get really good in later seasons (especially Clone wars). Plus, you have the live action shows (The Mandalorian and the upcoming Book of Boba Fett) to watch as well. Know you stick to mostly anime, but it would be cool to see your thoughts on some themes and characters in these shows. You also don't "really" need to watch the movies to understand the shows (although I still recommend to)

Cole Hoffman

True, AOT weekly videos need to be considered before picking a new show. To Your Eternity could use some love as well so maybe it’s best to wait a little bit.

benj

Watch Jojo's it's good

TJ

Erased is a great show, definitely deserves more love.

Megan

HEADS UP! AoT is coming back January 9th. While I’d be excited for a new show, I know how tough it can be to pump out that much content. Maybe another short show like Arcane would be best?

themightyabe

I would love for you do to Erased someday. But it probably wouldn't be popular

Sage

ooh on the subject of cool deep shoujo series, i'd add Revolutionary Girl Utena

Francesca White

Gravity Falls is amazing and relatively short. I'd also love to see Code Geass or Banana Fish. I chose these options because A. There not that long and B. I don't believe you will have copyright strikes with them. MAYBE Code Geass, so I'll suggest Assination Classroom instead. But I think a Google format would be the best place to vote!

Elise

Nice kill!

benj

Looking at your current slate, I think if you wanted to do something similar, to replace Fruits Basket with another amazing shoujo anime I'd suggest Princess Tutu. One of the greatest anime ever written in my honest opinion. For my earlier suggestion of Tiger and Bunny I think it'll work for when you need something to replace My Hero, after the movies + All Might Rising OVA :) both series aren't that long (25ish EPs) so you can take on new content after. Tiger and Bunny is also getting a new Netflix season and will likely get a lot of attention, so it's good for viewership when it does. It's also like.... HUGE in Japan, near My Hero level at least back then, even if it's not a shonen but a seinen.

Muchymozzarella

PRINCESS TUTU YES ONE OF THE GREATEST ANIME EVER MADE!!!! Not a popular choice but if you wanted to replace shoujo with shoujo it's one of the best written two act anime ever created.

Muchymozzarella

I suggested this too. I'm glad I'm not alone here

Skyler Anderson

Haikyuu, i.got the feeling that you'll love it. It has a lot of great characters I know you'll be able to talk endlessly about.

Ardawen

Its not finished and never will be, I hope it doesnt get picked

Etsch

Tiger & Bunny is great! It would also be a nice change of pace from all the shounen anime, I don't think he's done any seinen yet unless you count Invincible or Midnight Gospel.

Onigiri

I second this!

Onigiri

One thing to consider is that a lot of your viewers might have shows they want to recommend but aren't sure if you'd like them, because they're basing their suggestions on things they know you've seen and liked. So giving people an idea of what kind of aspects you like in a show would both narrow down the range of suggestions while at the same time encouraging nominations for lesser known series that happen to suit your interests. For example, I normally wouldn't recommend one of my all time favorite animes, Princess Tutu, to you because you've mostly only watched shounen so far, with Fruits Basket being an (exceedingly pleasant) exception, but if you said you wanted to watch something with avant-garde storytelling or creative fight scenes, Princess Tutu would be my top nomination by far. Also, do you have any opinions on movie reactions? Summer Wars and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time are amazing. There's also Studio Ghibli movies of course, those would definitely be popular.

Onigiri

We could get more romance or slice of life though, honestly id say its a good idea to branch away from Shoujo for now after FruBa at least for a little while. I'd love to see him watch Violet Evergarden or Bunny Girl Senpai. There is a lot of great of shoujo to get too though.

benj

Arcane’s a pretty rich show to get into.

Andres Lozano

I feel like the chances of getting another shoujo are very low, but I'll go ahead and try anyway 🥲 Kimi Ni Todoke has a lot of relationship philosophy elements you seem to enjoy discussing in Furuba so I feel you would enjoy analyzing that show as well. As far as something more main stream Mob Psycho 100 would be really fun!

Brooklyn Doreen

I swear The Good Place would be the perfect show for his caliber. I will never stop suggesting it.

Kotryna

Steins;gate, I always recommend on your channel so now I’ll do it on your Patreon.

Justice Hastings

Making sure Steins:gate gets represented!

Spizami

Also JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Assassination Classroom, Noragami, Tokyo Ghoul.

Kamolak

Would really love to see a Clannad reaction, maybe better as a replacement for fruits basket though

YES ARCANE IS A GOOD ALTERNATIVE! its very hot and im sure it will help your channel go through another great leap of exposure!

Nicolas Sabado

You did 2/3 of the mid-to-late 00s trio - Fullmetal Alchemist, Death Note….. just missing Code Geass

Nick A Sam III

If I remember correctly hunter x hunter was second after my hero academia in the last big poll so that should definitely be on your list in my opinion, it is an amazing show after all. Maybe just take the most popular ones from the last poll and do a new one on patreon, or maybe with google form or something like that.

Jenny bete

One punch man is so good

Avincent

I'd recommend Castlevania, Fate Zero, Young Justice perhaps?

Bruce Wayne

Sad to hear about the copyright thing =/ About the series i will suggest some that i think is worth the review Made In Abyss, Hunter x Hunter, Re:Zero, Shin Sekai Yori, K-ON, Madoka Magica, Paranoia Agent, Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Ergo Proxy, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Gakkougurashi! and Shiki

Sonozaki Shinji

Mob Psycho, Parasyte, Psycho Pass, Code Geass, One Punch Man, Megalo Box, Hunter x Hunter, Hajime No Ippo.

Kamolak

It just has to be Mon Psycho next, it’s a perfect for for the channel I know you’ll have so much to talk about with all the coming of age themes

Will Watches

Re:Zero would be an absolutely fantastic series for you to react to. Some strong emotions, and more meta commentary on the audience similar to Attack on Titan. As a side note, if you are reading this and you haven't seen Re:Zero, go watch it right now. You will have no regrets. It's disguised as an Isekai, but it is so much more.

Aaron Ong

Are you a fan of dystopian novels? If so, you might enjoy From the New World (Shin Sekai Yori); it's a 2008 novel that received manga and anime adaptations in 2012. The anime is 25 episodes and can be watched on Crunchyroll.

Merfhew

Stoked for Arcane!

secretsecret

I believe Hunter x Hunter was second in the last poll? I believe that show deserves a spot as well. It's certainly among my favorite shows and I highly recommend it. But yeah take the highest-rated shows from the last poll and some other good ones and make a new small poll.

Michael Stollard

Violet Evergarden would be a great transition after Fruits Basket... that would be perfect

Nick

Re:zero is a must watch for you, mob psycho 100 as well!

CastSenpai

Please watch ANYTHING Kyoto Animation. Easily my favorite studio in all of Japan, you said you already saw the movie "A Silent Voice" which was made by them and is one of there most celebrated works, but they have made so many under rated masterpieces and also some of the most popular and influential mainstream anime of all time. Shows like Hibike Euphonium, Hyouka, or Violet Evergarden offer incredible slice of life vibes combined with masterful and passionate storytelling. Haruhi Suzumiya, Chunnibyo, and Clanaad are all hilarious and massively popular, they are all must sees for anyone looking to branch outside of the Shounen Action genre sphere of shows, they are also slice of life. Pretty unlikley you watch a KyoAni show until maybe Violet Evergarden in the future maybe through polling, but theres a chance if you decided to choose one of them on your own so who knows might as well throw out this long recommendation. I think you would pick up on the level of detail and realism in the writing in how KyoAni treats its characters, they are by far the most human and realistic characters potrayed in anime up to what I have seen so far.

benj

Horimiya is good

Jacob Keyser

I love Aege, great Korra, AOT, Invincible, Avatar, and now arcane reactions. He does a lot of similar shows as Goodwin.

benj

Would love to see some arcane reactions.

Congrats on your relationship milestones! The copyright minefield seems scary, but thanks for keeping the reactions here for now. Just wanna throw in my personal reccs: Noragami, Bungo Stray Dogs, or Kemeno Jihen (Dub preferred but either way.)

CRS

When it comes to how to do it, someone has already suggested a google form, which I think would be a good idea, also it might be handy if you put something up about if you’re looking for certain things. Think length, genre or maybe a sort of tone. My personal suggestion is definitely re:zero, it’s an amazing show and I think it would give you a ton to work with regarding morals, values and talking about life.

DVK

Aege&Chill just started Arcane and it looked pretty neat honestly

Brimmy

I think doing it natively works. 25 is a good amount and can weed out things that are not a great fit.

Vali

I think Beastars would be cool for you to do next. It's not too long and has some great things to talk about.

Joseph Hallowell

I think you shouldn’t corner yourself into just anime/animated as you have been. My personal sugestión has been The Good Place in the past but maybe have just a poll for live-action shows for your 1 of your 2 shows.

Patrick Torres

I have seen other reactors do two polls, the first with 30-50 choices then the do another poll the next day with the top ten voted from the previous one to whittle it down and choose thier next five series from that. I hope I explained that right lol

Sandy Gamboa

I second Voilet Evergarden, great show.

Megan

Also wanted to add that I’m sure a few Patrons would be willing to help you compile all the recommendations from comments in to a simple list!

Tope

1. Congrats on the exciting step in your relationship! Meeting the parents is a biggie! 2. Sucks to hear about the copyright strikes. I think this should be something to keep in mind regarding new show suggestions as there are some shows known to cause copyright issues. In terms of how to deal with it, some things I’ve seen other reactors do are only show the episode discussion and link the reaction itself in the description box, lower/distort the audio and decrease the video opacity and add a filter to it, and create a second channel. 3. Haven’t seen Arcane, but it seems very popular at the moment. 4. Something I’ve seen others do is create a recommendations post and just source options from there. However, I agree with some of the other commenters about 25 being a bit too many. Perhaps if you give some parameters (e.g. show that has at least 40 episodes, is more light-hearted, etc.) that can also reduce the overwhelming volume of recs. I think 10 max is a good number. And after people vote, you do a “test” of the top 3 to determine which one you want to follow through with.

Tope

I've known reactors to create a backup channel in cases like this. So if the channel were to unfortunately be deleted, another channel would be waiting for you to resume your videos. And you could avoid the second channel being deleted by not having any strikes on it at all. But regardless, I'm glad that Fruits Basket videos will stay here as a Patreon exclusive. I quite enjoy your commentary and insight on videos. As for how to run the poll, I must defer to the others. All I can do is recommend my own option to hopefully be added to the poll. And that is Violet Evergarden. If you have not seen it, I think it is a perfect show for your style of commentary! I look forward to seeing the eventual poll

HorrorSkit

I would recommend Noragami but, I think that show gets people copyright strikes too....I do recommend it though if you ever feel like watching it as exclusively patreon. -Natsume yuujinchou is good as a feel good type of show. -The Ancient Magus' Bride - Haikyu good animation -Blue Exorcist -Food Wars -Eighty six -That time I got reincarnated into a Slime - Ouran highschool host club -Kemono Jihen -Horimiya -Dororo I apologize for my long list of suggestions I know that's not what you were asking for I just felt like you might enjoy these shows and thought you might consider them in your poll. I love your reactions your opinions on the characters and storyline is always really interesting.

Helena Flores

Sorry for the strikes! :( Also my suggestion would probably not be popular until the leadup to the new season on Netflix, but I definitely suggest Tiger and Bunny, aka My Hero before My Hero was even a thing.

Muchymozzarella

That's so frustrating with the copyright strikes! Especially since you reached out to them to find a middle ground! :( I'm sorry you're having to deal with that! Well, even though you're not taking suggestions just yet, I'd like recommend Yuri on Ice. It's only got 12 episodes, and, since we're (almost) in winter now in the good ol' Northern hemisphere, it's in season, lol. Also, it's adorable. :) I'll swoop in later to recommend it again once you've got your system in place, but I liked the idea I saw someone else recommend with the Google sheet. That way you can also just have an ongoing sheet of ideas for later as well. Maybe one that people can keep adding to or something. :)

Alyssa Callahan

Continue jujutsu kaisen! it has so many great moments that i cant wait to hear your thoughts about!

i_am_jam

I sort of expect that you already watched Cowboy Bebop, but what about other Watanabe shows? Samurai Champloo and Kids on the Slope especially. Both are relatively short, the first is 25 and the later 12 episodes, and would give you much to talk about beyond plot

Caio Miranda

Yeah but I feel like it would be really hard for him to narrow it down that far. I counted like 8 suggestions in this commented sections already and it’s only been up for a few minutes.

Megan

25 options might be a little overkill? I don't know, it might be better just to have 10 shows to vote for this time. I guess it doesn't really matter.

benj

Hoping for you to watch Demon Slayer!

Girl Wonder

I think you should have a requests post where people give a brief idea about the show and you can just pick the 25 options that sound the most interesting to you

Etsch

I also agree with people that you should say what you're looking for in a show, something like that

Nick

It might be best to make a backup channel, and editing over clips of videos will probably become more of a necessity to avoid copyright. A lot of people will blur the screen, put overlays on it, etc to combat copyright. As far as show voting goes, patreon polls work alright but it might be best to do it on an external site like a strawpoll website. One downside to that is people can pretty easily spam bot one vote option

Nick

I think giving people a basic idea of what you're looking for in a show might help get more overlapping suggestions.

Onigiri

Strawpoll maybe

PKKite

Steinsgate

Code geass

I feel bad that all the reactors are being spammed by requests to do Arcane...that being said, it is my current obsession so I am glad you're reacting to it. There's a lot of meaning to be found, but I think it's unlike a lot of the shows you've reacted to in that the deeper stuff is often shown visually and not stated explicitly.

Nathan

Its sad that you got those strikes and i think its for the best that u dont risk it...but im glad we still get to see FB on patreon haha Ill honestly watch anything you watch since you seem to make all shows more interesting (feels like watching with another analytical friend hehe) Im fine with polls on patreon for choosing shows ^^ Also i havent seen arcane yet so itd be fun to watch it for the first time along with u!

Cassia

Still hoping for haikyu or jujutsu kaisen

Baltazar Huerta

Lots of Patreon people just do straw polls but I’ll make my suggestion right now for HAIKYUU!! I think it’s right up your ally and if you love my hero and deep themes about passion I think you’ll adore this show

Skyler Anderson

That really sucks about Fruits Basket on youtube though. I’m just so glad you’re continuing to do them on Patreon despite the set back.

Megan

I think strawpoll is good option for many options or simply go with google fourm

Khalid

I’m good with whatever gets watched next

bl0odm1st

but the popularity could also mean more copyright issues

Jupiterninja

You could do a google form, people could write in their suggestions, then you can have all answers organized in a google sheet to easily see which ones were suggested the most. Then pick your top 25 from there!

raine

Gravity falls is good and pretty short with only 2 seasons, but that's still 40 episodes. Generally I think you should try for a short series this time.

Jupiterninja

PLEASE DO ARCANE. It’s genuinely one of my favorite shows of the year and I think it will fit with your channel perfectly. Plus it’s super popular right now too so it will probably get a large amount a views.

Megan
