Just gonna be safe and warn people of Attack On Titan spoilers ahead. I keep it vague but as I say in this comment: you can guess a lot from a small amount of information, so just be aware. Mmmmyup! On both counts. People don't seem to take into account that usually, in a well-written show, you actually have quite a lot of information on where a character is going, even if the intention is for you to notice this in hindsight. Most times, you don't need hints to get a sense where an arc might be heading or where a character's head is at. I've seen people guess the *general* shape of Eren's arc just from how he reacted to The Scene during 2x6. Giving hints usually pushes a viewer past the point of realization. And yeah, I've totally been spoiled on stuff before and found it hard to get enthusiasm to go back afterward. I won't say *anything* explicit, but if you've played Nier Automata, I had the sequence at the halfway point spoiled for me and found it really hard to want to play for a bit. Turned out it didn't really matter, still one of my all-time favourites, BUT STILL... didn't change my disappointment in the moment.

Agreed Nick! Its why i hate even the smallest detail of anything ever cuz then my brain goes into over drive and thinks up all the possibilities of what could happen I remember someone spoiling something during one of my spam spazzes on kitsu a couple years ago took me months to actually get back to that anime

Brimmy

I agree. He said in the AOT q&a I believe that comments helped give him a sense of where Eren's character was heading. Especially on YouTube, people are very bad about hiding what they're hinting. There's a difference between saying something actually vague, and saying something mentioning a character directly and then being not so vague. It's less of a problem on Patreon though. Which makes sense since it's smaller Example of a good hint: "This arc tackles a lot on the topic of vengeance, cycles of hatred, etc. Excited for your commentary!" Example of a bad hint: "Just wait until you see what Scar/Eren does in next episode 😐💀💀💀." When someone says something like that, I can get an idea or a sense of what's going down. It makes twists more mundane for me personally

Nick

SPOILERS AHEAD DO NOT READ ALEX BUFFER ZONE Just a friendly reminder to everyone that no matter how smart you *think* you're being by talking around spoilers and dropping hints that "he'll only understand after the revelation happens!", my history in other reactors' communities says you are *not* as sly as you think. Stop it. Just let him watch.

Weird flex but ok

Kollie123

He letters says he'd do it anyway

Nerd King 101

I agree, it has some nice moments but overall it’s not the best. It does lead to my absolute favorite episode of the show (22) tho, so I won’t complain

Anna Lena Ciplajevs

Man, i love Camie on this arc

Sonozaki Shinji

Well you know what, good for Deku. "One for all... Full Cowling... Harem style! PLUUUUUUSSSS ULT-"

Nick

It's getting weird how many girls are setting their eyes on Deku. Uraraka, Himiko Toga (hope I got the name right) and now... uh... disguise goop girl, Camie I think??

Nick

I'm glad im not the only one who thought he looked a bit like M bison.

Aizawa really is tough to match... Since it is a two way street, the right teachers make a big difference, and UA does definitely have that. You imagine the other schools do too, but Aizawa... Idk, different league.

Alex G

Excellent take

KJ Gaona

One of the things I like best about this show is that it does the high stakes stuff and the "low stakes" stuff and everything in between really well. Everything plays an important role even if it's not immediately obvious why that is, and there's always good character stuff happening.

Alex G

I like that the chip on your shoulder about school helped you appreciate Joke's perspective about the arrogance of thinking UA is better by default. You're right to recognize both sides of that conversation. Although I think, realistically, the only truly crippling down side of not attending UA is that you don't get Aizawa as a teacher. He's truly the one making it all such an incredible experience for them. Other than that, it comes down to the individual. (My bias towards him might be showing a bit but it's true)

KJ Gaona

Also omg the beach training for the ending hahahahaha

Skyler Anderson

You'll get answers to most of your questions hahaha. Anyways I love this arc its a breath of fresh air and good for character developments down the line!

Skyler Anderson

I enjoy this arc. The lazy sleepy guy who’s the boss of the whole thing is super funny to me idk why, I laugh everything he talks. I just think its a funny run on joke.

benj

Gah, these episodes are so much fun :D

LudicrouslyLuke

I'll just say this arc is much less important for the people who pass the exam than it is for the people who fail the exam.

Nathan

god we're back to awesome eps feeling short as heck >.<

Brimmy

I think Deku knew it wasn't Uraraka the whole time, hence the flashback reminding him to save people, because he knew he was about to save a random person, or at least that's how I interpret it. I liked your discussion on Deku's fears! What I like about Deku's and Bakugou's characters is that they seem to have extremely similar goals and fears, becoming the best hero and being afraid of failure of that goal in their own ways.

Emma Root

I personally like this arc and it is important for the future story just not as much as other arcs probably. Still, the battles are great! Plus, after this licensing exam arc, this season ends with something rather interesting and emotional

Jenny bete

i've seen some people say they find this arc boring, but i actually really love it. i think i'm just weird but i tend to prefer the more lighthearted fun type arcs like this and the sports festival over huge important battles. i just think this show does the low stakes stuff really well

Francesca White

handshake kid is the guy who did the earthquake lol

Francesca White

So this is my least favorite arc in the whole show. I feel like it's just here to finally get our heroes a way to be heroes legally. Just feels very boring for me personally

Nerd King 101

holy crap hype. I can't wait for commentary on both of those

Nick

Fruits Basket 1x4 and To Your Eternity 1x2 both coming tomorrow!
