So, I think this episode answers the question about why Reiner's decision to spread his consciousness throughout his whole body "matters", or what the downside is. He survives, but he obviously has a spotty at best memory of everything after leaving Bertholt. So, he doesn't remember the Thunder Spears and can't properly defend himself as a result. After multiple re-watches, I've finally got my answer! I feel dumb AND smart! YAY!

The animation, the sound, the music, the voice acting, the story. All of it were A++ this episode. The parallels between Erwin and Armin are done extremely well and I can't wait to see your reaction to the next episode.

Obviously that's bad, and also obviously there's still more to this story yet, but the most significant thing imo is that Zeke seemed to be taking some amount of pleasure in this. It wasn't just some dirty deed he was hesitant to do, he was actively trying to have "fun" with the violence, and said as much. That's a quick way to become a hated character lol

The Scouts were backed up again a wall, nearly all wiped out... but it took the sacrifices of my HEROES in order for them to defeat all THREE of their enemy titans. It's both a victorious and heartbreaking episode for these characters and the audience who grew so fond of both Erwin and Armin. The music will forever be ingrained in my mind!

2021-05-19 02:30:40 +0000 UTCIn that moment where Levi has his sword in Zeke's mouth and pushes forward, he actually pushes it up through his face and out his eye. Brutal stuff. They only show a frame or two of it in that scene and it's a little retconned because they show Zeke with both his eyes just a minute later, but the manga is... a little more graphic right there.

2021-05-19 02:29:41 +0000 UTCI love that even for people who know the show is playing you into emotions without knowing the other side, there's still pretty unanimous opinion that Levi's slicing up of the Beast Titan is not only justified but satisfying. I think it's because almost no moral stance or new information would ever make such an action as this complete demolition of the scouts seem righteous in most people's eyes

And when he put his sword in his mouth... Escpecially when he put his sword in his mouth. Only down side was his escape

There really is some sad irony that of all the people to survive the scouts suicide charge it was Floch, just an unknown side character who was introduced 6 episodes ago and had maybe 3 scenes where he actually speaks...We got Eren's 2nd ODM kill but at what cost....?
