News Brief: Media Adopts Israel's Simplistic 'Hunt for Hamas' Narrative, Providing Cover For Ethnic Cleansing

In this News Brief, we detail how American media focusing entirely on discrete "counter attacks" and adopting cool military-speak play-by-play ignores the much bigger and important reality of forcible population transfers and overt plans to remove Palestinians from Palestine.

News Brief: Media Adopts Israel's Simplistic 'Hunt for Hamas' Narrative, Providing Cover For Ethnic Cleansing

Comments

The current news cycle re: Hamas’ rape and the use of identity politics (women’s rights and the real actual problem of sexual violence being used to justify genocide) is really GROSS and upsetting. NYT and WaPo writing several articles about it and Sheryl Sandberg doing coverage with Israeli officials and hundreds gathered at the UN… just really upsetting to see people willfully twist the genocide of Palestinians to be an indictment of leftists as uncaring about women and children?? Any chance you can discuss this in your next discussion of this topic? Sorry for the long comment, but it is unsettling to watch unfold.

“Israel’s main problem is that they’re 75 years too late to the genocide party.” 🤣

i heard someone--i can't remember who--make the offhand remark that israel's utterly unhinged insistence on cleansing gaza at all costs right now is animated by the fact that this is literally their last chance to do so without their primary backer, the united states, totally turning against them at the public opinion level. and subsequently being politically unable to provide the critically necessary materiel support to do so. support for israel as a regional military aggressor force in the levant is basically non-existent for anyone below 35-40 in the US. and as such if they don't gain gaza and the west bank now, they never will. and i'll be damned if that doesn't sound dead tf on the money.
