It got better after episode 4, but as someone who lives in New Orleans her early diary entries were not it. But her acting was so freaking good that it didn’t stick with me as an issue. I’m so horrible at accents, I can’t even imagine how hard it is

Only during more heated dialogue did it show once she got a handle on it. I do give props for her working with a dialect instructor to make hers sound like Bailey.

Sam Reid, long-haired version, is a marvel. It needs to be studied. You should check out The Newsreader! It's another show he leads in and it's so good. Messy bisexuals abound! If you want a movie with him in it, my introduction to him was years ago with 2014's "Belle" starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw. He's her love interest. He's great in it--an abolitionist lawyer, i think, who is really passionate about her being treated right. If I had a dollar for every time Sam Reid was in a period role where he ends up with a Black romantic partner he adores to the moon and back, I'd have 2 dollars (that I know of) which isn't a lot, but it's great that it's happened twice. In my head, it's where he belongs. I've claimed him for the community. He's OUR White Man™️, now. Any other white man trying to swirl onscreen with the Black diaspora is putting Sam Reid, in particular, out of a job, as far as i'm concerned.
