Latex Harley Quinn Jester suit tutorial

Hey guys! I want to share with you today how I made my Jester suit, with progress pictures. Many thanks for all the support with my creations :)

First off, I always draw out half a pattern (Half of your measurements) and flip this over, so my work is symmetrical.

*For the rest of this suit pattern, I used the same explained in my previous suit tutorials*

Front two panels glued together, top half glued separately from bottom, then joined them up in the middle.

Attached both legs front and back to the torso...using a cello tape to stretch the latex to help even the seams.

I always cut my sleeves in half and join them up in the middle so we have two seams running front and back, this helps the latex fit better.

Next glue your shoulder seams.

I used my cello tape roll again for the sleeves, basically anything with a curve.

Moving on to sealing the suit together, starting on crotch and working your way down the leg. This part can be time consuming, making sure we don't have bubbles/ creases. If this occurs, peal back your seams and start again, making sure you wiped clean the area and re apply your glue.

Being super delicate gluing down my diamonds, making sure no bubbles/ creases occur. Make sure you go over with your seam roller a few times, We don't want the diamonds pealing back when wearing the suit.

Harley's collar was made super quick, I cut out 3/4 of the pattern I made and flipped it over. Cutting around the latex, cut 2 (front and back) seams attached by the shoulders. No zip is installed, I stretched it over my head but zip could be installed on shoulder or middle back.

Attaching the pom poms, cut out latex strips about 3cms long. Apply Copydex on the pom poms, let that dry and using your normal latex glue apply on top so the glue will adheres to the latex strip and press down.

So there you have it, one shiny spanking new Harley suit! Any questions, type in the comments below.

Excuse me, where can i get your patterns photos in high res? 😇Cause here I even can not see the numbers on it🧐

Михаил

Hey! I purchase latex sheeting from Radical Rubber and the glue I used is called Bostik 3851

PurpleMuffinz

Amazing stuff you do❤️ I want to start making shiny pieces for my crush and have a question🙃 Where do you buy latex for suits and which glue type do you use?(can’t find nothing about latex glue on web🙁) Thanks for answer and your work, we love you🔥

Михаил

Thank you for the tips! I'll be sure to let you know when I make my first creation. :)

I would study dress making books, or even buy patterns just so you get an idea on how it works

PurpleMuffinz

You're welcome! With my measurements I take away 10%, depending on the thickness. 0.40mm is the commonly used one, thinner would be a higher percentage.

PurpleMuffinz

This is great, but for us total newbies can you give us some tips on how to properly measure and make/draw the pattern pieces? I want to try to make this for my fiancee but I would like to surprise her. I have her measurements from ordering something online a while back. Thank you!

Oh cool, thank you! My wife and I are going to start making latex cosplay soon, and your tutorials have been really helpful.

Skotti Kimble

I used a silver gel pen, it wipes off easily :)

PurpleMuffinz

Weird little question, and if I missed the answer in a previous tutorial, I apologize. How do you mark your latex (like the diamonds here on the Harley suit)?

Skotti Kimble

You take video and I'll watch and count 😉

Jofs1556

I appreciate it, thank you 🥰💖💖

PurpleMuffinz

Just shows how much effort and love you put into each outfit 💗💗

Batman1815

Thank you for your kind words 🥰🙏

PurpleMuffinz

Ooo interesting! Look forward to seeing the end result 😊 well these pictures are always here if you need references 👍

PurpleMuffinz

Aww 🥰 back when I started yes, terrified! Wearing them at conventions with thousands of people made me so worried but nothing has happened *touch wood* now I'm so used to making them I don't worry as much 😊

PurpleMuffinz

I dont think people realise how much effort goes into to every outfit you make, just makes me even more in awe of how amazingly talented you are. The fact you make so many outfits so quickly. Awesome 😍😍

2pintspete

Very generous and helpful of you! Alas, its like 12 hours too late for me though haha - i was texturing a 3D latex catsuit last night and was looking at a bunch of reference photos to see where the seams are! It would have been really handy to have these kind of plan images. Great work anyway! Super skills!

Andy

I never count how long it takes but I guess half an hour 🤔 this includes shining and buffing the suit, I use so much lube 😂 maybe I should stop watch it next time and compare 😅

PurpleMuffinz

As a DIYer I find it interesting your process for creating the suit. You're quite inspiring. ❤️🖤💜 Did it ever make you nervous that when you would put on the suit it would all just fall apart?

Jofs1556

How long does it take to put something like this on ? 😅
