Tesla coils generate a lot of ozone, so any time I've ran one for a significant amount of time I clear out the air in my shop when I'm finished for the night. I do this by opening the door and a window, and use fans to evacuate the air. The other night, I had an unexpected visitor walk in when I was doing this. A cop was on patrol and saw the door wide open with a bunch of weird stuff inside and decided to check it out.
I didn't hear him walk up since the fans were running, and not gonna lie, it freaked me out having someone show up late at night like that. He was definitely more sketched out than I was though. π At first he was like "WTF is this place!?" I told him what I do, and that I was currently working on a Tesla coil. He asked me a few questions to make sure I wasn't going to burn the place down, and he asked for my YT username to look me up. I assured him that I have a lot of experience with this stuff, and that my landlord knows what I'm doing, and he lightened up after that.
He looked at my pole pig and said "those are the transformers that they mount to the poles!" and then saw the huge capacitor bank next to it and said "you'd get blown up if you touched that!" He just shook his head and told me to be careful, and went on his way.
I'm sure it was one of the weirder interactions he's had on patrol lol.
I have had some improvements with the tesla coil BTW! more on that soon!
