Hidden Details: Basement Dwellers

Welcome to the one-hundredth-and-ninety-ninth episode of the Hidden Details blog!

Have you found some obscure reference or detail in this comic? A JoJo reference? A sneaky little Loss? A callback to a previous comic? Let us know what you've found in the comments! Every detail that has been found will be added to the list below. Once everything has been found, this comic will officially be marked with "all details found".

Link to the comic for your convenience

Please only comment with ONE hidden detail or reference!

There's one Loss, one Balthazar, one Miep and one crewmate. Bonus comics don't count.

FIRST PANEL
1:
Balthazar is hopping through the hallway behind the boys, as mentioned by Brandon Digwood.
2:
It is indeed a Bullet Bill under those stairs, fictionfan0!

THIRD PANEL
3:
Okay, I've never actually played a single Kingdom Hearts game, so you're telling me that's not how Sora normally opens locks, Edgar Castro?
4:
Also, his Keyblade has a little Donald Duck emblem instead of a Mickey Mouse one, as pointed out by edmg7.
5:
The 末 makes another appearance, this time on the side of Tabuu's coffin. Good eyes, Lord Circe.
6:
There's a Skulltula in the basement. Its legs are visible above Sora. Glad you recognized what it was, AuritielValken!
7:
In between Dark Pit and Sora, we can see a cloaking device from Melee, which has since been discontinued in later Smash games.

SECOND PANEL
8:
Damn, I hoped I had found a character obscure enough for no one to recognize them, but yes, that's indeed Chuck D Head from Decap Attack in the second panel, Generic Hero.

FIFTH PANEL
9:
Dark Pit's shoulder gem mysteriously transforms into a little crewmate in this panel, as pointed out by Green Dragon 53.
10:
Yay, glad someone picked up on the fact that I deliberately chose characters that would have no idea who or what Tabuu is because they weren't in Brawl. And even if Wolf had seen Tabuu crashing through the floor, he wouldn't have known either, because in Brawl, he's unlocked after completing the Subspace Emissary story! Proud of you, A Sad Fat Dragon with No Friends!

SEVENTH PANEL
11:
This week's loss is visible in the pieces of floorboards that rain down from when Tabuu crashes through the ceiling. Found by Cameron Devera.
12:
There's also a Cracker Launcher (another discontinued item from Brawl) under the stairs!

EIGHTH PANEL
13:
Miep is strolling along the top of the bookcase behind Wolf's speech bubble, as mentioned by Spirit of Gotham!
14:
Speaking of Wolf: he's wearing a pair of reading glasses that's blacked out on one side, to match his eyepatch (which is fake in this universe). Good catch, C2123!
15:
Also: he's reading a book about a fellow wolf: White Fang by Jack London. Appropriate indeed, Alan-Michael White.
16:
And finally: apparently his Star Wolf crew gave him a "#1 Squad Leader" mug. Isn't that sweet, Jon Brouse?

Details that have not been found are marked italic.

Comments

The author's cat

Generic Hero

what's a Miep?

Anonymous Monkey

Tabuu's core was somehow broken in the years in the casket

Pokedude14

Wolf’s cup says #1 squad leader. Clearly his crew respects him

Jon Brouse

Wolf is reading White Fang by Jack London, which seems appropriate

Alan-Michael White

I think that's a Bullet Bill under the stairs in panel one. Can't say for sure. though.

fictionfan0

There’s a reason why it was “taboo” to open that coffin

Eric W. Jones

It appears to be an Skulltula above Sora on the 3rd panel.

AuritielValken

Sora’s Keyblade has a Donald Duck emblem instead of a Mickey Mouse emblem.

edmg7

All 3 characters that go into the basement were never in Brawl, so they wouldn't know that Tabuu is down there nor who he is. (Wolf also wouldn't know, because he was only unlocked after beating the story.)

A Sad Fat Dragon with No Friends

Twig Kanji on the side of Tabuu's case.

Lord Circe

Crewmate on Dark Pit's Shoulder in the 5th pannel.

Green Dragon 53

Not entirely sure if it counts, but I like how Sora is using his keyblade like an actual key rather than firing the key beam at the lock

Edgar Castro

The book wolf is reading is silverfang

Tolis

Balthazar's running in the hallway behind the boys in the first panel.

Brandon Digwood

Wolf's reading glasses are blacked out on his left side.

CherryOak

6th panel, you can see Loss in Tabuu’s markings on his side

Ethan Cross

Damn, you beat me to it

Green Dragon 53

2nd panel, painting is of Chuck D Head from Decap Attack

Generic Hero

Miep is behind Wolf's speech bubble in the final panel
