Hidden Details: A Friendly Awakening

Welcome to the one-hundredth-and-fortieth episode of the Hidden Details blog!

Have you found some obscure reference or detail in this comic? A JoJo reference? A sneaky little Loss? A callback to a previous comic? Let us know what you've found in the comments! Every detail that has been found will be added to the list below. Once everything has been found, this comic will officially be marked with "all details found".

Link to the comic for your convenience

Please only comment with ONE hidden detail or reference!

There is ONE Loss, ONE Balthazar, ONE crewmate and NO JoJo references. Bonus panels don't count.

1: Isabelle still has trouble remembering Sans isn't Sans but actually Mii Gunner, as she almost has a slip of the tongue in the first panel, as mentioned by Lord Circe.
2:
This week's obscure retro game character portrait (I might make this a recurring thing): Monkey from the PS1 game Monkey Hero (1999). He has a portrait in the background of the second panel.
3:
In the second panel, there's a little Baby Mac duty sheet hanging on the door, showing who is taking care of Baby Mac during the week. And yes Trigger, I made sure that this sheet matched Baby Mac and Donkey Kong (on Wednesday) later on in the comic! Wario Saturdays will probably be really interesting, A Sad Fat Dragon with No Friends. But maybe Wario has a fatherly side to him? And yes, Samus has Baby Mac duty for three days, Jerry Woods III. She's the main caretaker after all.
4:
Not sure who is married to who in this universe, Jeffrey Solis. Whether or not they're married, I think they can be regarded as friends regardless, hence the inclusion of Lissa in this comic. But you did point out Frederick's card in the third panel.
5:
In the third panel, one of the books on the shelf in the background is apparently one of Robin's tomes, since the cover says "Elthunder", as mentioned by Cameron Devera.
6:
Yes, Balthazar actually has multiple appearances this week! He appears in the background of the fourth panel and then moves to the front to watch the spectacle between Sora's legs in the fifth panel. Glad you noticed him, Rob Molivas!
7:
I'm glad Mink (ex-intern and now freelance comic helper) remembered the Ridley flower because I would have totally forgotten it. Good eye, Jon Brouse.
8:
Corrin is wearing the slippers Isabelle gave him in the previous comic. Very nice of him to not decline Isabelle's present, Michael Ederer!
9:
Yep, loss is in Donkey Kong's tie this week, but the four parts are divided among four panels. Good catch, Generic Hero!
10:
Waluigi is considered a friend of the gang now, apparently. Probably because he helped revive the Mario characters, VisionPlayer22.
11:
A Rabbid joins the group of friends in the fifth panel as well. I only added this guy because I'm playing Mario + Rabbids right now, so I got Rabbids on my mind, Lukas Wandler.
12:
Yep, it's hard to spot, but Chrom's Mark of the Exalt on his arm changes into a dickbutt in the final three panels. Glad you were able to spot this, Bastion.
13:
The crewmate isn't even particularly well hidden this week. It's just standing there between Marth and Kirby in the final two panels. It also cheers in the final panel, Zach.
14:
Incineroar and Kazuya rudely block Isabelle 2's view, so she has to peek between Incineroar's legs in the final two panels. Good eyes, Daniel Myhre.
15:
Not really, UnSaxon51, but I did think it would be funny to make Ridley just perform a beastly screech instead of actually cheering, so I'll count it!
16:
Special shoutout to FoxdocDylan who noticed I mistakenly wrote Waluigi's Γ backward in this comic.

All the details that haven't been found are written in italic.

Hidden Details: A Friendly Awakening

Comments

There is a rabbid in between Corrin and Waluigi in panels 5-8

Josenonoob

I know bonus panels don't count but in the first one Robin doesn't have Grima's mark on his hand. Maybe is because he comes from the game after killing Grima for good?

RedViolet69

Balthazar in panels 4 and 5

Unstuckduc

not sure if this counts as a hidden detail but i love that Ridley still has a pikman flower on his head XD

RicKingAngel

The mark on Chrom's right arm turns into a dick butt in panel 6

Bastion

Samus is listed for 3 days on the babysitting chart. She must really miss being a maternal figure.

Jerry Woods III

This may be a stretch, but Lissa shouting “YOU COULD HAVE JUST ASKED” could be a callback to Charizard shouting the exact same thing in ‘Triple Finish’ after Squirtle and Ivysaur beat him within an inch of his life and Red recaptured him. I dunno, it just reminded me of that.

Strengthening Weakener

Isabelle 2 needs to perk between Incineroar's legs due to their height difference.

Pokedude14

DK is babysitting Baby Mac, per the Baby Mac schedule that has him on Wednesdays.

John Leonard

Waluigi’s Γ is backwards and I can’t believe noone’s noticed this yet

Foxdoc

Waluigi is there, too, showing that he's a friend thanks to his efforts to help revive the Mario crew.

Tejayes

Pretty sure Ridley's cheer in the final panel is modeled after his up taunt, which in turn is based on his classic "SCREE" from the Metroid games

UnSaxon51

I see a tiny animal in the 4th and 5th panel one in the background and between sora legs

Fighting Master

Sounds like Isabelle still can't quite remember that Gunner is Gunner, and not Sans.

Lord Circe

According to the 'Baby Mac duty' chart, Wario is responsible on Saturdays. Who thought this was a good idea?

A Sad Fat Dragon with No Friends

Instead of cheering, Mario is clapping like his match loss animation.

Miracle_AU

Crewmate in between Marth and Kirby in the last 2 panels

Zach

Dangit, beat me to it!

Miracle_AU

Balthazar is in two panels, first in panel 4 behind Isabelle and moved up to the crowd between Sora's legs in panel 5 :)

Rob Molivas

Frederick, who watches over Chrom and Lissa, sent Chrom a get well card that can be seen on panel #3. Also, curious question, are Robin and Lissa married in this universe or is it a reference to Awakening?

Jeffrey Solis

DK's tie in the last four panels make out Loss this time!

Generic Hero

Corrine is wearing the slippers that Isabelle brought in previous comic

Michael Ederer

In the crowd we see waluigi as he is now seen as good enough to participate

VisionPlayer22

In the crowd behind waluigi and Corrin is a rabbid from the rayman series

lawariano

Ridley still has a Pikmin flower on his head.

Jon Brouse

According to the baby Mac duty chart, Wednesday is DK's turn, which makes total sense because that's the weekday when comics are released to the public.

Trigger

El Thunder book in the 3rd panel!

Cameron Devera
