Hellou & good evening - I'm back home! Unfortunately I spent my whole Sunday sitting in a train from Switzerland (Murg, St. Gallen to be precise) to Vienna, so I couldn't record anything for you there. I thought about sending you a little podcast again, but honestly that constant monotonous train noise in the background isn't very pleasing... So here we are now. :)
I was playing at the wedding of a friend of mine, it was a gorgeous place on the shore of a lake, surrounded by mountains, that landscape... Damn, Mother Nature is so beautiful. Now I'm back at planning, organising, rehearsing and recording in Vienna within the next days - even though I already travel to Italy in one week, crazy times, I thought my July is totally chilled, but as always some gigs show up spontaneously and then you end up being in a different country every two weeks... :)
This recording today is not really an improvisation, it started as one, but evolved into more, before I recorded it for you - that's why I call it a draft, it's a thought-through melody collection, possibly being used for a song in the future, same as the other drafts I shared with you here. :)
And these are the thoughts I had in mind, while exploring those melodies:
Honestly as a musician sometimes you forget to actually ✨do✨ music, as ironic as it sounds.
You spend so much time with organising, travelling, planning, rehearsing, writing (sheets, lists, tech riders, whatever), promo, social media, recording, releasing, doing artwork, music videos, texting with a thousand people, answering dm‘s etc etc.
It feels so good right now to just sit at home (after sorting a bunch of papers & getting shit on my desk organised again) and play piano without having a plan. I just got home today, haven’t even unpacked, did all that stuff before and now rehearsed for a piano track I want to record today still… and then got carried away & ended up finally fooling around again.
Thanks for listening and reading til here. If you feel the same sometimes - I see you.
Hope you're having a great week ahead of you! Take care!
xx
PS: I love how these three parts can simply be exchanged and alternated with each other. It’s harder than you think to keep the rhythm and those lines haha - yet so much funnnn :))
