Hidden Details: Defibrillamon

Welcome to the one-hundredth-and-tenth episode of the Hidden Details blog!

Have you found some obscure reference or detail in this comic? A JoJo reference? A sneaky little Loss? A callback to a previous comic? Let us know what you've found in the comments! Every detail that has been found will be added to the list below. Once everything has been found, this comic will officially be marked with "all details found".

Link to the comic for your convenience

Please only comment with ONE hidden detail or reference!

There ONE Loss, ONE Balthazar and NO JoJo references. Bonus panels don't count.

1: That mountain in the background of the first panel? That's Mt. Coronet.
2:
Correct John Hattan, that's indeed a reference to the Pokémon anime (and one of the few episodes I saw as a kid) where Gary Oak scribbles "Gary was here! Ash is a loser!" on a roadsign. But in this case, Barry did the scribbling and Lucas is a loser.
3:
Costume: Young Link and Zelda as a Youngster and a Lass, forming a cute pair. (Put 9-Volt In Smash Bros Please)
4:
Costume: Sora as a Bird Keeper (Alex Nelson)
5:
Costume: Duck as a Psyduck (Ricardo Mosqueda)
6:
Costume: Samus as a Battle Girl (you were the first one to guess correctly, Jack!)
7:
Samus is apparently strong as hell, carrying three Pokémon with one arm.
8:
We can see Cynthia eyeing Kazooie in the background of the first panel. Good eyes, Carlos Mendez.
9:
Costume: Kazooie as Ho-Oh
10:
Costume: Banjo as Ursaring (Noah)
11:
Costume: Piranha Plant as a Bellsprout (Zach Strand)
12:
Costume: Kazuya as a Sailor (A Sad Fat Dragon with No Friends)
13:
Kazuya is still using his favourite flame-pattern wheelbarrow. Good catch, Zanreo.
14: Yup, Jigglypuff apparently deflates when she dies. But yeah, I guess it's because she's a balloon, Carrick RaccoonBro Inabnett.
15:
Costume: Wario as a Hiker (Shelby Kinkead)
16:
Costume: Isabelle as Dawn (Zach)
17:
Yes CSDX! I indeed put the Valley Windworks windmills there to give context to the Drifloon!
18:
Good job Trigger. You found the little Amogus crewmate on Isabelle's Pokédex.
19:
One of my favourite Pokédex entries, Luke! It indeed states that Drifloon is rumoured to carry kids to the afterlife (and that it dislikes heavy kids). In the background of this comic, we can see a Drifloon doing just that to a Pokékid.
20:
With him mentioning natures, EVs and IVs, the Ace Trainer is definitely a competitive Pokémon trainer, Erin. Although I'm not sure if Electivire is often used as a Special Attacker these days.
21:
Quite well hidden this week eh Purple_PyrOZ? Loss is indeed visible in the sparks when Electivire defibrillates Pikachu and Pichu.
22:
Haha yeah, this was a subtle one, but Kazuya is indeed the only one not flinching from Electivire's thunderbolt, Lord Circe!
23:
I put in some Starly in the sixth panel for extra Sinnoh flair. Correct, GainergettingHuger.
24:
Yes Luis Calcaño, Balthazar makes his appearance as (Fakemon) Baltabun in the final panel, next to his new Buneary girlfriend!
25:
You're right edmg7, the final panel is a callback/reference to my old Galar Border Patrol comics. Ursaring is even wearing the same hats as the Pangoro in those comics wore.
26:
This week's hidden detail found by Phloxiana is not as wholesome: there's a little Eeveelution chart hanging behind Ursaring in the final panel. Sylveon are not allowed in Sinnoh because they're gen 6.
27:
And finally, as another reference to the Galar Border Patrol comics: there's a postcard underneath the Eeveelution chart from the Pangoros, saying "Galarian Greetings!". Seems they are doing well, Roberto Nava.

(Counting every costume as one detail!)

Next week, I'll reveal all the details that haven't been found. These ones are written in italic.

Hidden Details: Defibrillamon

Comments

Is this for Defilbrillamon or Psalm 493? The image has confused me

Shelby Kinkead

Young Link is dressed as a Youngster (reference to Youngster Joey, I'm guessing) Zelda is dressed as a Lass.

Jeffrey Solis

This is costume of Sailor, like, the trainer class

Calamari Knight

How do i tell what a loss is?

THEx

The loss is cleverly hidden in the sparks from the electric shock

Or drifloon acting as a balloon for the pikachu cosplay girl - flying pikachu - in 4 ongoing panels

THEx

The only Eeveelution not allowed in Sinnoh is Sylveon, since it’s a Gen VI Pokémon

Jon Brouse

They’re comfy and easy to wear

Jon Brouse

Duck Hunt Duck drrssed as psyduck

Piranha Plant as Bellsprout

There’s a “Galarian’s Greetings” postcard in the last panel

happy pasta

Cause he got big muscles.

Tim Vinson

Ursaring sinnoh border control in its habitat mountainous forests

THEx

Inceneroar and Greninja being excluded by Sinnoh Border Patrol is I believe a reference to your previous series "Galar Border Patrol", which has Pokemon excluded from Galar due to not being in Sword & Shield, in the same way Pokemon from Gen V onward are not in BDSP.

Gavin Walker

no jojo? then why is kazuya in a jojo pose dressed as jojo part 8? if that doesnt count those starly in the second to last page look interesting

GainingGamer

Someone else got the Loss, so I'm going for Amogus hidden at the back of Isabelle's pokédex

Trigger

Not only are they on the outside of the border instead of the inside, but I'm pretty sure that's the Balthazar cameo and not a lillipup.

Aris

While you are quite close, I think she's actually meant to be Misty. I didn't find any record of misty ever wearing an orange swimsuit but... That's gotta be Misty, right?

Aris

Zelda and Young Link are both dressed up as the “I like skirts” and “I like shorts” trainers.

Supercharged (CEO of 9-Volt)

Isabelle is dressed as Dawn.

Zach

Wait a minute, didn’t Wario already dress like a Hiker in Hyrule?

Shelby Kinkead

Also Wario is dressed as the Hiker

Shelby Kinkead

That would explain the Drifloon!

Shelby Kinkead

Something tells me they’re going to need an actual revive for Greninja if they can’t get him into Sinnoh, either that or Zarude will end up making an appearance later

Shelby Kinkead

Jigglypuff is deflated, considering they're the "Balloon Pokemon

Pokedude14

Kazuya's wheelbarrow has a flame pattern

Zanreo

"Lucas is a loser" writer on the welcome board in the first panel

MattB

Judging by the background, the gang arrived near Valley Windworks, which is east of Floaroma Town.

CSDX

Lillipup is in the background of the last panel with Buneary, which is weird since Lillipup debuts in Generation V. This constitutes as an illegal border crossing.

Eric W. Jones

Incineroar grew back their fur

Sora is dressed as A bird keeper.

Alex Nelson

Banjo is camouflaged as Ursaring

Noah

There's a letter from pangoro to ursaring in the board of the Sinnoh border patrol

Roberto Nava

Sylveon is the only Eeveelution not allowed in, according to the sign above Ursaring in the last panel.

Phloxiana

Duck (hunt) is a psyduck(?)

Mythkaz

the electrivire trainer is a poke at competitive trainers within the fandom! since he's selectively bred for the perfect nature, IVs and such

Erin

Kazuya is the only Fighter not flinching from the bright sparks from Electivire.

Lord Circe

Return of the boarder patrol concept from the Galar comics, but it's Ursaring doing the guarding since Pangoro isn't in BDSP.

edmg7

Jigglypuff is deflated, fitting for the Balloon Pokemon.

Carrick RaccoonBro Inabnett

Cynthia looking at "ho'oh" from a Distance

GhostElmo

Zero Suit Samus is wearing her 7th alternate costume.

Cameron Devera

Loss for this week is found when Electivire shocks pikachu and Pichu, the lightning makes a sneaky loss, even if the last part is hard to see due to Electivire's colour

PurpEnigma

Loss in electivire sparks in the 5th panel

Trigger

Balthazar it's there with a buneary in the 8th panel

They're all dressed as common trainer challengers in Pokemon games: sailor, schoolgirl, etc. The humans are, anyway.

Josue Cazanga

Piranha Plant is a Bellsprout

Zach Strand

Every charater (that wears clothes) is dressed as a different trainer class or character. For example, Kazuya is a Sailor (for some reason)

A Sad Fat Dragon with No Friends

Drifloon can be seen taking the pokechild away in the background, a reference to its very dark Pokédex entry

Luke

Barry is channeling some Gary Oak energy by scribbling Lucas is a loser on the welcome sign

John Hattan
