I did too

Robert Elijah DeMayo

A Chapo reading series for Doughboys. My two worlds have combined.

I’ve had it twice since moving to Japan in 1996. The first time it was actually served in the school lunch and I thought I was eating gristle - absolutely nasty. The second time I was on an end of the year teachers trip to Wakayama prefecture, we were staying at this very high class traditional Japanese Inn… and it was still nasty. I think that my Japanese colleagues were trying to convince themselves that it was edible out of some sort of national pride, but they weren’t very convincing.

I liked this episode

The first time I've heard of french tacos was on your podcast a couple of months ago when you discussed it during a feedbag segment. On a walk during my lunch break, I was surprised to see that one opened during the pandemic just steps from my work. Living in Montreal, there's a big French immigrant population and it seems like the trend crossed the ocean! Oh how I wish you could review this place. Not only do they have what you described on the podcast(a cheese wrap filled with potatoes and meat) but they also have a "Sweety Tacos" which is a dessert wrap filled with nutella, snickers, bananas, etc (super customizable). They also have what's called the "Challenge Tacos" which is a 5 pound tacos where, if you finish it, you don't have to pay for it. https://mont-tacos.com/en/mont-challenge/ Truly a chain made for the Doughboys

Non-mainstream music industry is boomin' D-Boys. Talk to my stacks of vinyl about owning media...

Truly historic. An epic episode, worthy of a tome by that noted Dame, JK Rowling! Liked by 49 listeners. which for a patreon account with over 10,000 patrons might seem paltry but hey, ENGAGEMENT BABY YEAH!!

REMAIN INDOORS

Agree eating whale if you have alternative food sources is wrong, but for a number of indigenous communities there is no sustainable alternative and it's even a way of life. Not an outrage thing here, just another angle. https://www.ktoo.org/2016/04/09/127531/

If Vice is interviewing you, something has gone horribly wrong. That Frito-Lay article was depressing.

I absolutely loved this episode

Feeding Raindough rules! I like sad shit!

Schafer

I tasted one bite of whale in Iceland -- would not recommend. Absolutely tastes like you shouldn't eat it, which you shouldn't.

Andy Fulton

Hard shell tacos are actually an American thing. Most Mexican tacos are soft corn or flower tortillas.

A Doughboys reading series? Somebody’s getting a cease and desist letter from he Chapo Trap House lawyers

Martin Ross

Nice try but I’m still not convinced that nick or Mitch are literate

AFistfulofGwildors

And yes, Pig is one of the best movies yet this year!

Hey, Cruella was actually good!

Absolutely incredible Wiger. The suicide discussion about Fritos. Only you man, only you.

This podcast continues to amaze me. They could talk about anything and I would listen. In fact, I would listen to Mitch and Nick talk about turds they had.

If Gervais did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him

This episode was like a podcast filibuster. I enjoyed it.

Michael Pemulis

I’m a french listener! So there’s at least one. As far as the french tacos are concerned, I was confused when they first became popular because I knew of the hard shell tacos. I just assumed the french tacos were soft shell tacos and something that existed in mexican cuisine.

Nick

Native Texan here living in Germany (sadly has the same issue as France). How I wish the Doughboys could come try the terrible German takes on Texmex/Mexican food. A restaurant opened next to my apartment literally called Tex-Mex, and the enchiladas they served me was one gigantic “burrito.” If you ever come to Berlin, boys, the shitty Texmex is on me.
