Mitch, Wiger, Yusong, & Emma, After moving to New Orleans, I've come to realize that what defines a poboy is not fillings, like fried oysters or roast beef, but New Orleans' unique take on French bread. I heard that when Subway first showed up in New Orleans, locals thought it was disgusting since they were used to better quality bread, even from corner-store sandwich shops. Some franchises even got in trouble because they began using local bread in order to try to lure in customers. I was recently discussing ribs with a friend and I think that they may have the biggest span from good to bad of any food. Great ribs are undoubtedly amazing, but bad ribs can be downright inedible. I rarely order ribs anywhere unless I know for certain they are known for their ribs because the risk of tough, gross ribs is not one I'm willing to take. What other food items do you often feel are too high risk to order? Note: I think bad fish/sushi is a different kind of bad as that's perhaps a legitimate concern for physical well-being as opposed to me being scared of a bad meal.

Mitch, Wiger, Yusong, Emma I spent a month in Spain this past summer, and while there I unfortunately lost my passport. As a result, I had to take a long train ride from Sevilla back to Madrid in order to go to the consulate and sort everything out. I listened to episodes of doughboys the entire time, and it really helped pass the time and stress of the whole ordeal, so thank you for that. After my meeting at the consulate I had a few hours to kill before my train back to Sevilla, and decided to treat myself to a nice lunch to help alleviate some of the pain and stress of my day. I got a steak, fries, a few pints of beer and a large slice of carrot cake to cap it all off, and it really did help me feel better. So my question for everyone is this — what meals or foods do you treat yourself to when you've had a bad day, and is there any particular example of such a meal that stands out in your memory? I feel like some foods have a "ceiling" of quality that can never be surpassed, while other foods have no ceiling and can constantly be improved on. Hey boys, just wondering your thoughts on tipping at fast food restaurants. I try to tip in every hospitality situation (e.g. restaurants, coffee shops, hotel cleaning staff, car wash, etc.) but there really isn't an opportunity in the fast food situation, unless you're paying cash and leave a few bucks for the cashier, which may or may not make it back to the line staff. These folks are probably the lowest paid individuals in food service (outside of In and Out), so why isn't tipping them the norm? Thanks! Derek

My boys! I have a hypothetical for you. If a developer came to you and asked you to design the restaurant lineup for a brand new strip mall being built in your neck of the woods what ultimate strip mall food lineup would you choose? Keep in mind you need a mix of sit down restaurants, smaller fast-casual restaurants dotting the mall and free standing fast food drive throughs in the parking lot area. You can pick from any chain nation wide but make sure to mix up the price-points and remember not to have too many overlapping menu items to avoid storefronts cannibalizing each other. I actually think this could make a great draft style episode but would love to here your quick answers in a feedbag episode too!
