Hi Nora,
I’ve done some paintings on frosted acrylic panels, even though it’s been a while back. I don’t prime these kind of panels before painting because they have a nice textured surface that helps create a pretty strong bond between the paint and the panel.
I got them at a hardware store. The ones I used have the thickness of 3-4 mm, but it’s just a matter of personal preference.
Hope this answers your question!

Hi Daria, I really love this surface you use, what brand is it and how do you prep it for oil painting?

Yes, I’ve done this one (and several other paintings) on frosted acrylic panels and quite enjoyed working with them, however I have to warn you that it takes a little bit of time and practice to get used to them, they are harder and somewhat smoother than canvas for example.. so it’s a little different than paining on a canvas.

what type of surface was this painted on? It almost looks translucent.
